Mercy is currently making the game unenjoyable

You are currently making the game unenjoyable for yourself

There, fixed that thread title for you.

I appreciate you. I think disagreeing is fine, from what I’ve seen you’ve always been a reasonable and respectful person so I don’t mind having this discussion with you.

Oh yeah, I understand that it’s just my personal opinion and I don’t mean to make it come off as hard objective fact. I realize it might and that’s my fault.

I mean, it was popular among Mercy players but was ultimately changed because Blizzard agreed that ā€œplay hide and seek to find and kill the Mercy, but don’t kill her too early or she’ll respawn fly in and rez and don’t kill her too late or she’ll fly in from her hiding spot and rez, but make sure she dies because otherwise she’ll rez, but it can’t be too early or too lateā€ was miserable to play into.

It single handedly ground the game to a halt where no one could do anything until they found and killed the other team’s Mercy because anything they did was in danger of being undone with barely anything they could do to stop it. She still has the same issue to a lesser extent today, but instead of hiding she’s zipping around the map at mach 9 3/4.

There’s no good reason to kill a playstyle, actually

Further, no character needs a rework

none

Given the horrendously bad history of reworks in this game, I wonder why any player would want a rework for a beloved character

I’ve played against Mercy pockets as a DPS main.

Mercy is fine.

Going 1v2 against any DPS/Healer combo will put you at a disadvantage, so why is only Mercy a problem?

Also, in your 1v2 scenario, Zenyatta is objectively better than Mercy, because while Mercy can only dmg-boost (25%), Zenyatta can simultaneously:

  1. Discord (25%)
  2. Heal (30 hp/s)
  3. Deal 150 dps (with discord)

It’s why he managed to replace her as Pharah’s support at the tail end of OW1.

Depending from what TF2 Medic uses, his escape capabilities can change.

For instance, one of syringe gun offers speed boost from % of ubercharge. One of his healing tools literally allows to mirror explosive jump of teammate for extra mobility. And Medic already is second fastest class in TF2 - same speed with Spy and only a bit slower, than Scout.

So phrases like ā€œMedic can’t escape bad situations for freeā€ are a bit dishonest - he very much can.

maybe in narnia sure

Mercy pocket DPS is TWO PEOPLE. Stop trying to 1v2 a pocketed DPS.

This wasnt real. Seagu made that up. Most mercies tenpo rezzed mid fight. They implemented LOS checks for rez and it was easy to counter

There’s no way in 2023 we’re still trying to perpetuate this gaslight. The super fun (/s) find the Mercy minigame was plenty common enough and was oft-recommended by Mercy guidemakers. The grudge held against Seagull for something that he did not make up entirely by himself is so wild to me, and I don’t even really care about him.

I’m convinced that all of the Mercy complaints come from players who have a love/hate relationship with her.

They are excited like crazy when Mercy is pocketing them. But they ragepost when they get shredded by an enemy being pocketed by her.

So they are mad, if Mercy is cheating on them?

Yes, and they also expect her to fall down on the floor at the mere sight of their guns.

These players can’t stand that Mercy doesn’t die as easily as they want her to. It’s as if so many players are offended by such a pure healer type in the game.

Mercy is just like other women. They always go with someone better than them (pocketing enemy dps) while avoiding their unwashed butt(using GA to escape thwir ā€œsick aimā€)

After playin a bunch of tank yesterday such as Sigma, Winston, Rein, Ramattra, Roadhog, and Zarya I pretty much came to the same conclusion. Ignoring Mercy is a completely valid mode of play and highly favorable to your tema provided you have any support duo that isn’t Mercy or LW.

By picking neutral pick tanks or better against an enemy tank you really don’t have to care about Mercy at all except to make sure that after a kill you camp and punish any yolo rez attempts.

As a team contribution, your team’s DPS output simply overwhelms the enemy team’s line up preventing them from operating. Mercy providing 55 hps or 25% dmg bst is simply not enough value to overcome the multitasking properties of many other supports in most cases.

Finally a real take.

No way you just said ā€œsojourn was never opā€ now that’s crazy

Ah I dunno, Mercy made my last game pretty cool. :heart_eyes_cat:

Well here’s an idea.

  1. Make it so that headshots count as damage boosts.
  2. Cap damage boosts at 100%.
  3. Increase Widow Base damage to 125 up from 120, but lower the headshot modifier to 2x.
  4. Increase Kiriko primary damage up from 45 to 55, , but lower the headshot modifier to 2x.
  5. Also consider Discord to be a damage boost.

Such that a headshot can’t be damage boosted, unless it’s less than a 2x modifier.

And heck, if we’re feeling generous to lower ELOs, because of Pharah and kinda Junkrat.

  1. Splash damage can’t be damage boosted, but direct hits can.
