Mercy dropped another spot on the support role

Jesus you really got worked in this thread. Kinda backfired

Yes, despite many others before telling them she was quite good. Had a player just assume I was doing nothing in a tough match as Brig (QP), but still pulled 12K+ heals out… while the enemy Brig got 13k+. Note that the enemy team had Ana, while I had a Moira… I think damage out was somewhere around 4.5K, maybe a bit more or less.

Let me guess…overbuff?

I think that is the argument for why Mercy is not ok. Disregard her balance, disregard her healing rate; why the heck does she have an ultimate that occupy roughly 10% of every Mercy player’s total playtime that does not require your skill as a player to the same extent as your normal play? I’d be fine if it had a 5 second duration, but 15 seconds of spectating is not good game design.

And you are just misquoting again, i even showcased that monthly stats showcase your problem as none existent. If you look at OWL even it isn´t the case either.

Again stop trying to wrongfully present evidence as facts of your imagination, when it isn´t supported.

Mercy in no way is bad as you claim and all stats showcase this as well.

Honestly I think 70% of the Mercy one-tricks who want Mercy buffed just want her to be a must-pick again so they can play Mercy again (without a Pharah or a Bastion comp) without telling themselves they aren’t throwing.

Do you even read what you write?
Wanting a hero to NOT BE A THROW PICK IS NOT UNREASONABLE.

So… why make a Mercy thread if she’s not even on the bottom?

Shouldn’t you he advocating for Zen first?

Should all healers be perfectly synchronized in pickrates no matter the meta? Should there never be a slightly better or worse option?

What OP is saying
Mercy is in 6th place out of 7 supports.
ALSO…
a) she’s being out picked by Ana in a Doomfist-heavy meta, which makes no sense whatsoever.
b) in a meta with the lowest combined tank health pool, she doesn’t have enough healing somehow
c) somehow, Mercy is being out picked by Brigitte, a hero that has a 1% pick rate in pretty much all ranks and is considered a throw pick by the majority of the player base
d) the only support lower than Mercy is Zenyatta, who right now is an actual throw pick

Me no like Doomfist meta

With their lack of burst healing (other than trans), Zen and Mercy no longer synergize well. Mercy is decent with every other healer, but lacks enough healing to be paired with Zen.

I think she could use a QoL change or two, but I do think she’s okay at most levels.

A week on Overbuff is always the past 7 days. It doesn’t automatically split into a new data set every Sunday. Same goes for monthly, it’s just the past 30 days without splitting up on every single 1st of the month.

That said, your point is still spot on, weekly is always an unreliable source because of how volatile it is, especially when just talking about GM. It’s literally the smallest data pool you could get.

It’s worth noting that Mercy is basically permanently meta on console. She’s the second most played hero in GM on PSN this month (behind Orisa), and she’s the fourth most played hero in GM on Xbox this month (albeit behind Moira and barely behind Lucio). GM teams play her about 65% of the time on PSN and 52% of the time on Xbox.

Ana has always been basically a throw pick on console—even at the highest ranks—and Lucio is a bit harder to utilize mechanically (the best Lucio players have amazing aim while wall riding, which is much more difficult with a controller). So, on console, those heroes are less popular, and Mercy ends up being picked instead.

I realize at the very highest competitive level, PC Overwatch is the bigger deal, but complaints about Mercy being underpowered should have to grapple at least somewhat with the fact that she is actually very strong and a meta hero for a very significant portion of the player base.

Ana has a defensive tool against Doomfist with Sleep Dart; and with Reaper falling off in favour of Hanzo, that’s one less target that can dive the Ana. Pretty much it’s ONLY Doomfist who can jump the Ana now, which is perfect for her single target CC. When there’s more than one person able to jump her, that’s when she struggles.

Because Doomfist/ Hanzo still just flat delete people faster than Mercy can keep up with alone, without offering any utility that works around the meta. Moira’s ult can go through barriers and destory Orisa’s; Ana offers Nanoboost for Doomfist/ Sigma, Baptiste has Amp field to help break barriers as well as Immortality Field.

Brigitte is still super powerful; people in lower ranks just suffer more because she requires more efficient teamwork to do amazing on. The fact that she still has well over 50% winrates despite her low pickrates means she’s clearly good for the people who know how to use her.

Maybe in GM when set to “weekly” but in every other rank, she’s still a seeing double Baptiste’s pickrates until Masters.

I am not sure about this as Blizzard is notorious for having weekly scheduled maintenances etc. So i guess that those would be the ones that some sites weekly go for. But still the main point is, yeah, that it is dishonest to misuse those stats to prove a completely incoherent point.

Quite a few in this thread appear to be using pick rate and/or win rate in a rather misguided manner.

Someone’s gotta be at the bottom

Someone does, yes. But should that someone be a supposedly “go to for raw healing”. I’m thinking, no, it really shouldn’t.

My question: When will Mercy finally not be “fine”?

I sure would like to see Zen get a little something. I bet people would think 50 damage and 20% discord would be a nerf, but that would be a real buff to his kill power. Any real Zen player knows it would be. Orbs interrupting reload is annoying. At least that should be changed.

I totally agree.

BUT MERCY ISNT.

You really have to squint hard and skew the numbers to make mercy look bad.

Mercy is one of the strongest heroes in the game on 3 of the 4 platforms overwatch is available to play on.

Her “worst” location is PC- but even there she’s not actually bad. She’s still one of the most picked overall heroes in the game across all the ranks, with a positive win rate overall. to go with it

It’s really only the top single digit percent of a single platform where mercy is outshined by other healers. But again on PC where 9 out of 10 players exist- mercy is the epitome of fine.
