Mercy damage boost is fine, people refusing to counter a combo is not.
I may be wrong but aren’t barriers treated like walls?
Where Mercy still heals for the 3 seconds after but then loses lock? And same with Lucio’s residual healing after losing LoS.
It would then make sense that Moria and Ana can’t heal through walls or barriers. If this is the case Mercy is fine.
If this is not the case then Blizzard needs to make it this way to ensure some kind of continuity between the supports.
Several streamers/pro personal have made comments regarding it in the last few weeks and it gets echo’d by other players that like them/trust them albeit generally with less detail.
I thought this was an original thought. I don’t watch streamers too often and not Overwatch streams. Would rather be playing the game. But it is great to hear that the community leaders and pros feel the same way!
Sigh. Blizzard will not remove damage boost. The ultimate problem Mercy has right now, is her ressurect. And for those people saying Valkyrie is too strong. That’s why they nerfed it.
Valkyrie After all, is an ultimate that allows mercy to AoE heal/dmg boost and allows her to fly. That removes two of her weaknesses.
1- Unable to heal a certain person at a certain time.
2- Avoid dmg/helps her call out more.
Yeah I can see where you’re coming from but Mercy and Revive are a package deal. I don’t like it and I don’t like Mercy’s new ult but it’s what we have. I always supported the old revive ult but I understand the reasoning for the rework.
Looking forward and taking what we have, without another major rework, reduced healing would be a small step to a balance but I don’t think that’s the right thing to do.
Using you’re example, her current ult Valkyrie does remove her weakness which is fine, it’s an ult. It’s that little extra optional damage boost on top of the ult that makes it feel very powerful.
Ehhh, I do want Rez as an ult back tho.
Discord is definitely better than damage boost
I may not like Mercy’s dominance for the past 6 Seasons but that doesn’t mean that I’d want to mess with her Damage Boost.
Sure, something has to change and I think we all know what that is, but it’s just not this.
Mercy is completely unaffected by barriers. Not only can she continue healing through them, she can actually target through them as well. It’s like they dont exist for her.
Lucio has no residual heal so once a barrier is in the way, his healing instantly stops. Brigitte’s will continue for 3 seconds though.
Wow that’s interesting thank you for the insight. There is zero continuity there and that’s kind of disappointing coming from Blizzard. I feel like that concept where treating walls and barriers as the same would address some the frustration between support players.
I wonder if there’s a reasoning behind the way it is or if its something that was overlooked.
Isn’t suppose we’re not allowed to make accounts with Blizzard employees names on it? And don’t see the issue with damage boost. I’m Mercy main.
I’m not sure. That’s why it made so little sense to me that they all of a sudden decided Moira can’t heal through barriers anymore but left Mercy unchanged.
Maybe Mercy needs that to feel playable. I’m not sure. It does feel like Mercy has a lot of exceptions in her coding though.
Would you rather have damage boost or discord to your disposal when your team starts exchanging ultimates?
Continuity is important for making a game feel fair. Which Overwatch’s biggest issue is feeling like something is unfair or that you’ve been cheated in some way, true or not.
Perhaps this could be the first thing that gets address by Blizzard. It seems very reasonable for walls and barriers to act the same when it comes to how healing is done and applied.
Also I feel like they were itching to find something to nerf Moria with lol
I don’t think her damage boost needs any nerfs
damage boost makes up for not doing damage herself. supports should all have utilities. what are you thinking?
i play a lot of Mercy and i am okay with her losing her damage boost ability.
Just hope they give her something to replace it outside of the damage scope. Mercy is a healer.
It always seemed odd to me she boosted damage
Mercy has great utility!
She on average heals the most, has great mobility, and great survivability. On top of that her kit allows her to revive an ally every 30 seconds. On paper that is awesome in of itself.
Then you add the ability to damage boost which grants he way more then she needs to be effective, that brings her into the OP category. From a game balance stand point it’s too much for one hero. Keep the damage boost for Orisa. Or added a new support hero based around buffing damage.
Someone else had mentioned Damage Boost wasn’t an issue until Mercy 2.0. I completely agree with that. Right now she doesn’t need it to be effective and her game play wouldn’t change much at all.
And if that’s too much perhaps buffing her blaster by some way mentioned above.
Okay, what do I get to compensate?
You can’t just remove Damage Boost w/o giving her something else to use, or else she’d just be a boring healbot.
