Mei seems to be the most ignored hero in the game. Yes, she received some new flashy animations, but her problems still remain. She has broken the record for living with major bugs longer than any hero. Keep in mind, some of these bugs have been prevalent since the game launched back in May 2016.
Snowball still disappears when Mei dies after using it, and D.Va can still eat it when it’s deployed and on the ground. Tracer has the same issue with Pulse Bomb.
Cryofreeze is largely inconsistent. Pressing the button means you are invincible, but Mei can still die even after activation. The ability still goes on cooldown though, so this is proof that it’s a bug.
Wall placement is inconsistent from a distance. There are some surfaces it should attach onto, but it doesn’t. Sometimes the wall can break for no reason; this is rare, but it has happened to me.
If a target is shattered, the freeze timer is reset entirely for that target. I don’t know if this works for any kind of stun, it needs further testing.
Mei’s golden weapon is still extremely bright for her default/recolor skins (except for OWL skins).
You might think Mei is a monster, but no hero should have to deal with this amount of bugs for such a long amount of time.
Her ult needs to be fixed and iceblock should be an exception to favor-the-shooter because fts+lag = dead mei, even though you properly pre-blocked a stun/hook/ult… It’s kinda tilting when you outplayed someone and still died through your immunity
Other than that there really isn’t much to complain about tbh
This is not a bug. This is latency.
Please read this thread. It explains why this happen, what affects it and what can be done to solve it: [PROOF] Projectile Ults blocked by Lag
This is definitely one of the biggest bugs she has. Latency could play a part in this as well.
Some abilities don’t use the favor-the-shooter mechanism in the game, but something more like favor-the-player. The game will give these abilities the highest priority on the server. Mobility abilities and invulnerability abilities are some of these abilities.
Mei’s Cryo-Freeze doesn’t seem to use the favor-the-player mechanism.
Mei freezeing rein for even a little bit while rein is holding up barrier makes him almost completely imobile cause of the way slows stack this happens with brig too
hes “trying” to move the entire time btw you can see reins feet make a super slowed down animation
Cough Bastion Cough
She’s not even close to be the most bugged hero in-game btw. She’ll have to compete with other heroes like Doomfist, Reinhardt and Sombra first.
Reinhardt, Orisa, Dva and Brigitte are affected by it.
I think this is what makes Mei a good counter to tanks. Reinhardt has to drop his shield to remove the additional slow of his shield, but at the risk of being an easier target to freeze.
I don’t know if this is a big problem though. Reinhardt is usually not alone.
granted do we really need more bloody tank counters
which in a real game situation if he drops hes barrier he’s entire team is exposed cause rein is a frontline tank or he keeps his barrier up and gets frozen it’s compelete lack of put on the reins side it’s incredibly infuriating to to know that know know how much you do you’re going to get frozen
at the very least I’d like it to not make them compeletley unable to move cause let rein move a little bit atleast this isn’t much as a problem for d.va and orisa
cause d.va can fly away befor mei even gets close to freezing and orisa can foritfy rein charge takes too long to start up and he’ll just end up getting frozen.
What other role can Mei have?
She sucks as anti-flanker, she’s not a sniper and she is not a generic DPS’er like McCree.
But you made a good point. I think the developers should look at who should and who shouldn’t be a counter to tanks?
Reaper?
Mei?
Bastion?
Junkrat?
Hanzo?
Maybe some heroes need a different role in the game.
You’re right.
But should Reinhardt’s teammates, who Reinhardt is protecting, not protect Reinhardt? He can’t attack when he has his shield up. Only his teammates can. If Reinhardt is being bullied, then his teammates needs to step up.
You want Mei’s freeze to only slow?
But then should slow effect should be improved a lot as a compensation buff. Losing the ability to stop an enemy is a big nerf after all, because Mei can no longer stun enemies and they can always fight back.
I think a better solution would be not have the slow stack but rather have the player get slowest speed which would be Mei’s freeze in Reinhardt’s case. This allows Reinhardt to move if he has his shield up until he is fully frozen.
Not to sound rude, but if Reinhardt is getting countered, then shouldn’t he switch? This game is all about switching to counter your counter after all. This also applies to healers and tanks. In this case should Reinhardt probably switch to Orisa or have a teammate switch to a counter to your counter to protect you.
I just started playing mei a lot in the last couple months and the ice block latency has got to be the most frustrating thing about her. You shouldn’t be punished for carefully timing her shift to block the most possible damage
