Mei in OW2 is the weakest she's ever been

Let me get this straight.
You reached near the peak of the mountain one-tricking mei(or near one-tricking i’m assuming) and you’re upset because you can’t stand at the tip top? If mei was really that bad wouldn’t you have not reached GM?

Edit: fml another necro thread. I hate this forum.

I play a lot of Mei and I think she’s fine. Might be because I never really relied on her primary.

I agree with Mei being weak but a 10 second freeze never was and never will be ok

They shouldve given her better tools to compete against high mobility heroes.

She slows them to almost a crawl. That is a good tool against High mobility

Stop asking for buff, can’t you see that our problem is that we need nerfs? Nerf! We need a lot of nerfs, basically all tanks and most of dps and sup heroes.

Mei is balanced, she just look bas because we have broken heroes in the game

People will not even be able to leave the spawn with so much buffs that people ask in this forum

Brig here. I’ve had all my CC removed, I do almost no dmg, and I have the worst ult in the game. Just saying hi.

I was also a Mei main with a lot of hours on her.

She was one of the primary reasons why I was against 2-2-2 and against 5v5. You cannot balance those modes around heroes like Mei without gutting the heroes severely. Mei is a hybrid hero. She is a DPS that has control abilities so she plays like a Tanky DPS. There is no way to balance Mei as she was in a role queue system because she can function as both and give the edge, likewise there is no way to balance her in a 5v5 system because she ends up being an off-tank which gives the team who uses her the edge.

The same is true for a lot of hybrid heroes that exist which is why they’re slowly being gutted and are shells of their former selves.

Unfortunately, I don’t see Mei going back to her old self unless they stop the bull and go back to 6v6 and no forced role queue.

How does Mei’s slow help her take down a tracer blinking away or a sojourn slide-jumping to high-ground…or even a genji dash. Sure Mei can force out a movement ability with her primary fire but if any support or DPS uses their movement ability then they’re getting away. PLUS, even if Mei is slowing an enemy without a movement ability up, all they have to do is start shooting Mei because all supports except Moira and Brig can deal MUCH higher damage-per-second than Mei’s primary fire due to the headshot multiplier.

No way you’re above mid silver  Brig is S-tier right now.

  • Lower health and cooldown of Ice Wall. Make it reactional than a niche ability on long cooldown.
  • Give her freezing primary fire back, or make it disable movement ability after 1 second (you have 1 second to get out of the range → force out movement abilities).
  • Ice skate and frostbite (DoT) → adding value to switching between targets
  • Blizzard in bigger AoE (bigger sphere)

hack no longer disables abilities- it’s a damage-boost and timed cancel playmaker, you can always fight back against a sombra

freeze was removed because it was by far one of the most infuriating things seen in gaming yet- an easy-to-apply cc that completely takes agency away from you and leaves you a free kill, that’s the difference between sombra hack and freeze

mei was practically deleted because it’s just fact, whether mei mains like it or not, that she was an unfun, unhealthy design- the community hated her, she was ineffective and niche for most of the game’s lifespan, he was a bad design through and through

what mei needs is a rework to move her away from cc entirely, a new foundation to build on- to make her powerful now would be a near game-killing decision

It might be a necro thread, but that doesn’t make it any less relevant.

I’m upset because you cannot get nearly as much value out of Mei as you used to, so now she’s basically just an ice wall bot who spams icicles. She still has her peeling ability from before, but that’s it really.

Her tank dueling ability is gone. Her long-range ice walls are gone. Her 400HP burst damage combo is gone (the 100DPS over-time you get from her primary fire now is objectively worse).

Good.

I just find it funny that people complain so much about needing CC back. No, you really don’t. CC was a crutch. The game as a whole is better for those abilities being removed.

Mei is still overpowered considering how much value she can get with her wall for 0 skill. Yet you will probably be among those who complain that widow is overpowered when she actually requires skill to achieve value.

low skill maybe, but definitely not 0. you do understand as rank increases the harder it is to get value from the wall. not to mention the main issue is that most people are not used to playing against mei. if they faced may on a regular basis you would see how average she is.

Meis damage comes from her icicles not her freeze or primary fire. Maybe start focusing on that rather than freezing or slowing the enemy.

But… Mei is possibly better across the entire playerbase now than ever before?

(Barring the short times in OW1 where she was overpowered and quickly nerfed)

She is fine, they are overreacting. Go check any serious tier list, she’s high b in good hands.

If your going to play Mei as an icicle bot your better off playing Ashe.

You need ridiculously high icicle accuracy to make its low fire rate work. But slow is an extremely powerful cc ability.

On top of that cyro has cleave which means if your fighting for point or a choke and you blast 2 enemies at once your dramatically out dpsing icicle.

I thank you for reminding everyone of the Ultimate “I think she’s too weak but everyone else thinks she’s still too powerful” overwatch 2 character.
