Maybe ow2 is free but PvE is not?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT. You mean to tell me those skins will not be available to get through lootboxes?

The classic one not at least
And if we get new ones… Saving loot boxes won’t do anything since they all have stuff the moment you get them so saving them is kinda pointless. The only thing you’ll do is hurt yourself when the game comes out opening who knows how many loot boxes you’ve saved

Buying OW2 grants you access to PvE, not buying OW2 technically means you own half of it because literally everything else besides PvE is available to you, new engine, models, etc.

Not quite sure about the skins though.

I mean

OW1 players will not be able to get skins that will come out with OW2 unless they buy OW2? I’m not talking about saving lootboxes, I mean I don’t care about PvE but I do care about not having every Mercy skin there is. If they release a new mercy skin for OW2 I wont be able to get it ever cuz I wont have OW2? ;_;

Yep, the skins are exclusive to OW2 owners

I’m not crying. I am not weeping. Stop accusing me of these things. You have no right man, you have no right. Someone hold me

OW1 will get some updates too, but I assume you pay for everything that can’t be split from OW1.

Yeah, I think you can see the models but you can’t select them

You don’t get the skins. You don’t get the new hero models. You don’t get to use the full potential of the updated engine.

You do get access to new heroes and maps and pvp modes. But the new modes don’t require full usage of the updated engine.

Correct.

Incorrect they still need to make money.

So OW2 PvE is the major addition of OW2. They are adding new skin redesigns and an upgraded engine instead of remaking every hero from the ground up (freeing up much more time than making a full traditional sequel). The PvP should be expected to get a substantial overhaul as well, with several new modes (more than just push), heroes, maps, features, and potential reworks.

The PvE is what will definitely be bought, but it’s definitely possible that the PvP is made F2P. Ushering in many players who wouldn’t have spent the money to simply try the game. OW1 owners will be getting all the additions to the PvP, but won’t be able to access the PvE and skin redesigns

Can you provide a source for this?

Which I highly suggest! But it’s just my opinion.

PvP is free for everyone.
PvE is the paid expansion for OW2 owners.

It was during Blizzcon when Jeff talked about OW2, about who would get the new hero models like Reinhardt with a beard and hooded Genji. He said only people who had OW2 would have access to those character models, but if they wanted to use the classic models they could.

Nope, they are OW2 specific as all of them are based in the lore of the game at the current “updated” point in OW’s timeline that OW2 is based around.

considering how little i care for pve, i don’t mind

i only really enjoyed the pve the first time through and only really because you get map previews or rialto and stuff
if i can ever get it discounted i probably will get it since a friend of mine really enjoys the pve, but because i mostly find it just filler “stand here for two minutes while these pathetic ais keep converging to your spot” gameplay and it gets really old, but maybe ow2 expanded enough on pve for me to look into it after seeing more online gameplay

If you own OW, you don’t buy OW2, do you not get the graphics update?

Does this effect gameplay? I imagine there will be a difference, somewhere, someway, between those with and those without an updated graphics.

technically this is true as ow2 is just the new base skins and pve. everyhting will all be in ow1.

I don’t believe you do, and it wouldn’t effect gameplay otherwise Blizzard wouldnl’t have said it in such a way.
