Well yeah it could increase for lower ranks. But higher ranked mercy players will probably suffer in dmg amp done.
I know I certainly don’t like this change. I wish they would just make it so that dmg amp was applied in both ways. It would be the best way to make it consistent instead of indirectly nerfing mercy’s skill ceiling and only helping other heroes.
But I guess who cares about high ranked mercy, combine this with the boop changes, still 50hps and goats still existing playing mercy at my rank might as well be throwing.
Blegh. I’d rather tweak Mercy so she can’t heal while GA or hovering but gives a burst heal based on distance when it is over to get rid of Pharmercy. Pharah has only had 1 actual change, not counting what is on PTR now, in the last 3 years because of Pharmercy and that change was only because she was unplayable after they changed Sombra in 1.21.0.1.
Did you actually read the rest of it or was it insta rage at ‘can’t heal for 1 second’?
Mercy players have wanted a burst healing, it gives them that, which makes up for not healing for 1 second, MAYBE 2, especially if it is based on the distance away from the target.
This patch has a huge amount of love for Mercy though.
Sure she’s not directly getting buffed (the RMB change isn’t a nerf or a buff, it’s just a tweak), but her competition is getting nerfed and her synergies in Soldier, McCree and Junkrat are getting massively buffed.
That does the opposite. You would punishing GAing around like a mad doctor beaming everyone, so it reinforces pocketing. “I should GA to that hero otherwise I’ll lose my beam, best stay with this hero right here”.
Maybe they dislike her because people mindlessly complain when they say time and time again that what they want doesn’t line up with their design philosophy.
GA should just be used as either an escape route to get away from danger or to get to someone quicker. If they are close enough to death that not healing for 1-second means they are dead anyway, you weren’t going to save them because you were out of range.
It hardly encourages pocketing, it encourages paying attention, especially to flankers. If they are close enough that they are in the 15 meter range, she doesn’t need to fly to them anyway.
Sure synergy but her res got nerfed even more. And realistically besides dmg boost that’s where her value lies, it’s definitely not her healing that’s the most useful thing about her now a days.
The boop changes are freaking huge, it’s extremely easy to cancel with lucio,dva, brig, pharah, orisa, probably even just a winston jump, or maybe rein hammer too. Get any hero with a boop on cd and your mercy will be getting 0 reses off.
So you mean all of those things that should have canceled and countered rez in the first place actually do now? Sounds to me like it just levels the playing field to me.
Boops weren’t as effective but it doesn’t mean Res wasn’t hard to pull off. Even when your team helped you mercy player didn’t succeed in getting a lot of reses unless you were playing super agro. Playing agro mercy is like wanting to be tortured. I’d know that’s my playstyle and as more time passes I just feel more and more hate towards the hero and the game. Worse yet with the boops even the agro playstyle of resing will be impossible.
So you can’t be passive reser. You can’t be agro reser. Then what’s the point of res. Her healing is garbage so what’s the point of that. Her amp is getting nerfed with projectiles lowering her skill ceiling yet again. Yeah I think it’s time to give up.
There is a lot of hate towards Mercy, most of it is the dev team and the overly vocal mass rez people on forums. It’s just not coming from the devs themselves. Mercy has rez, which is an OP ability. The rest of the kit needs balanced down greatly to make up for not taking it away.
All boops were always supposed to counter the current rez, they were just overwhelmingly inconsistent and almost never actually worked.
It should have been this way when Mercy 3.0 came out.
Yeah, I didn’t mean that it was. What I was curious and confused about is why they’d think Seris is an upgrade as it’s also a lock-on heal (if not worse due to its longer range) only aoe and bound by default to right-click XD
There’s more difficult/aim requiring styles of healing in Paladins (and Overwatch could learn something from them there tbh), just not in the case of Seris.
Yes. If the boop changes were there when mercy had 60hps. It would have been perfect! I would love that. Perfect balanced and I wouldn’t be the slightest bit of mad. But with 50hps this just feels like being spit on.
Having 50hps isn’t the biggest deal. She is a primary healer, has the best single target output, and is about to have another primary healer to carry the burden.
