A trillion dollar company is never going to look into any reports. That’s why they use AI to automate the process.
They don’t care.

This exactly. The only instances where I will consider it acceptable for a person to be banned for abusive chats is if they are making threats or promoting illegal activity.
Those are the only one’s that the government can punish, those are the only one’s anyone else should be punishing.
Allegedly, I like to use my (definitely not real) alternative accounts as report-bots and I just report anyone who I even mildly dislike. I can confidently say (or i could, if this wasn’t all alleged) that the system is completely broken. I get “thanks for your report” all the time if I just spam report at random, but on my main where I use it fairly, I have gotten a single one in seven years. Allegedly.
I can see some behaviour or words being toxic, but banning for trash talking is a bit too much, I think.
Most of those toxic words can just be banned using the automatic filter they already have in-game. Anything else that slips through can just be muted.
Now here is the issue, what do you mean by “fair” system?
Take toxic behavior, how do you “fairly” determin if someone was toxic or not?
Every person will find different things toxic or not, and even if most agree something is toxic some dont agree as to what level.
Take GG EZ as a example, most people will tell you that is toxic, however when you ask if someone should be banned for saying GG EZ, you will get a much more mixed result.
So how do you fairly determin weather GG EZ will get you banned or not?
Now im not saying our system is perfect, just that its not a simiple fix that will work perfectly.
So like, if you do something in the game, that makes someone else enjoy the game less, you are reported?
I think that’s working as intended.
That’s so cute that you think that many people are playing chess. Or that you believe your reports actually did something against the 80k robots that you play against on that website.
Wow.
You sweet summer child.
Like in 99% of other companies and games, where toxic people get banned and not toxic people not?
Well if someone wishes my mother to die tonight, I can surely define it as toxic.
This is not an honest argument. Toxic is toxic. No need mental gymnastics here.
toxic. What’s hard to get here?
Because it’s toxic, so it’s bannable. I am not sure what is hard to get here?
Yeah, only blizz cannot ever do it. Lichess can do it with a couple of dudes sitting on donations with 2 millon games per day, but a multi-billion dollar company cannot do it. I am not buying it.
Rules must be clear so it can be enforced well as well. But our rules are set up, but enforced by players. And yes, players can find anything reportable and block your account.
Imagine we had laws, but people enforced it instead of the police and the jury. That’s ow now.
Don’t forget your tin-foil hat. Chess streams get millions of views, chess content gets hundreds of millions of views per month. It’s all bot as well, right? Youtube loves chess a lot and wants to prove Applesoup wrong!
I literally made a lot of friends on lichess lol.
TOS (terms of service) is just an agreement that you are paying for a service and don’t own anything and blizzard has the right do to anything it wants.
The point of it is to protect Blizzard from legal action that’s it.
Yes it contains guidance on how you should act and how it will act but still says it can do anything for any reason anyway.
I mean, the reason behind any ToS is to be dubious and give several powers to the company by signing you to it.
About reports, is a different history. The netcode associated to an assyncronous multiplayer game is not the same as one synchronized one.
Stack it on top of what cheating in one game can be while on another can be.
Chess has turns, that alone can help a ton to fix several problems pretty fast.
I’m not saying isn’t doable, just saying that is way harder to monitor 11 versions or 13 versions previously of the game happening at same time. Comparated to a turn based game who mostly has 2 versions and are turn based ones instead of near real time.
Blizzard never had stellar coding skills, never paid well enough and lacked for years, and still lacks in QA department due how historically they treated testers and folks related to those kinds of jobs.
Expect something from a company who are bleeding talent for years already, is not wise.
They do some stuff right, but considering how much costs to run a game who is not performing greatly and with it’s staff being poorly paid and often being pushed to aim for profits instead of polish. That’s why several folks were fearful about the f2p direction, due the influx of players will increase the cost of the game and not always tied to the same increase on revenue or investiments on the said game. I mean, they already are recoloring old skins and calling it “something else” some epic are turning legendary with small couple changes.
The TOS was created before Blizzard decided to fire the entire customer support team
Now it is automated garbage that is abused.
blizzard owes you nothing
TOS is a ban anything rule book, the TOS is so vague anything could be punishable. Take the communication aspect don’t say anything that could be offensive or vulgar to others, but they don’t define what is offensive or vulgar they just use subjective wording…
