When your opponents get better the next match, no big deal.
When the opponent feels like a whole different rank and just trash you easy? Never had that happen huh?

I mean…I’ve experienced being on the wrong side of someone’s malfeasant smurfing behavior…
hardly blame the MM system for that though.
Just jerks being jerks doing jerky things.
Maybe, random games gonna be random, it’s a bit hard to tell the difference.
Matchmaking in comp will match you with people with similar MMR, It’s been proven and said by developers on several occasions.
Also -
I’ve been GM and t500 for many seasons, this account is for tank and dps. My normal hero is lucio/ana/moira. I didn’t climb because I was carried, I climbed because the team had great comms as I was directing them and they listened. and I had a positive mentality on the matter.
“There’s absolutely no-way to prove the game forces losing streaks, regardless of what you’ve seen or believe.”
Oh buddy do I have some news for you about a new invention in mathematics called “statistical analysis”.
The matchmaker is NOT rigged, but it is of terrible design.
The MM tries to create teams with the probability of 50% chance of winning, but the example you gave of 5 support mains on one team against a balanced team of players, how is the probability 50%??
The MM is actually really really simple and to me thats the issue.
It’s like something from 1999, when there are far more advance techniques they could be using with machine learning.
50% probability has to be based on what heros the players typically play.
If both teams had 5 support mains then thats fair game, but to be so unbalanced is broken.
It actually happens a LOT, far far more than people appreciate.
The argument from some people is “learn more hero’s”, but guess what??? We’re 3 years into the game and people are NOT doing this, so lets just put that argument to bed, as people will never do this.
The MM needs to be vastly improved, a complete overhaul.
I genuinely do not care if i have to wait 10 minutes for a game, so long as it’s actually balanced with the probability of 50%.
LFG anyone?
And yes, shifting your mentality from “It’s my teammates fault for every loss” to
“What could I have done better here?”
Will result in a player finding their mistakes, taking steps to correct them, and climbing.
You could be a toxic ahole too, but that’ll net you unnecessary losses because teams won’t take your sh1t. If a toxic ahole and someone looking to improve start at the same level of skill, the improvement minded player will climb faster.
And btw how do you prove that the matchmaker is forcing you to loose? There are loads of other explanations like:
End of Season
You don’t belong that high (boosted)
You’ve peaked
You’re unlucky
You queue at bad times
So how can you eliminate all other variables?
Feel free to argue.
Even if ELO Hell doesn’t exist Blizzard should still put more effort into mitigating the impact of Smurfing at lower ranks and even at Masters.
There is a smurf in every single Masters game regardless of when I queue. I literally have a list of smurfs I’ve fought against. Fighting Smurfs in ranks like Masters is humbling but simultaneously disappointing - it shows me how much farther I need to progress to be able to do what they do - but in certain matches people see the enemy have 2+ Smurfs and then they’re just like “GG Boys enemy team has 2 GM Sniper mains” and then just as quick as they say GG they switch to Torb and the game ends just like that.
People who frequently throw games intentionally and are mass-reported for doing so should get more than a Chat ban or a 24-Hour ban. I think Overwatch should have a 3 Strikes system where after receiving 3 24-Hour bans in a Season you are permanently banned for the rest of said Season and/or potentially longer.
My recommendation for lower ranks that want to improve is to NOT FLEX. I’m not saying don’t have a decent sized hero pool, but in games below Diamond team composition matters far less than people give it credit. Focus on yourself and your own personal improvement and you’ll soar.
Flexing is a double-edged sword because you want to help your team right? Wrong. Helping your team in ranked matches at lower ranks by Flexing/Filling only forces you to rely on your teammates to make plays and you lose out on Hero “Mastery”, having one hero you know you’ve spent time to learn and have figured out.
I was a little disappointed you didn’t end your title
MATCHMAKING ISN’T RIGGED - ELO HELL DOESN’T EXIST with - Change my mind
This isn’t possible without role/character queue with a hard lock and a forced category composition.
Record a VoD, 3 games, and Ill tell you if you’re crazy or not. You’re likely just being selfish.
also Statistical Analysis is not an accurate method, that’s why you cannot use it in this scenario.
Dude, if fighting smurfs in Masters is humbling, what do you think it feels like for lower ranks? I’ve fought the same smurfs 4 times in a row and I moved on. I agree it is a problem, but if theres smurfs on the enemy team they are with you too.
