Mass Res: Why it Should Never Return

But its pointless to play a hero where the main thing you do it hide to get a rez.

Allow me to correct: where 90% OF YOUR MAIN THING is running around healing everybody until your wings fall off from Guardiant Angeling your way from the Widowmaker at the top to the Reinhardt dashing like an idiot to the other side of the map. And if you’re lucky to not be caught in a multi-kill, rez everybody with your earned ultimate.

Corrected for you

Except hiding is not necessary at all. I don’t think I or anyone here claimed that. It’s an objectively bad strategy that was only used a lot because of the broken SR system at the time. Instead, focus on tempo ressing. That’s what I did and I enjoyed a fun, fair and balanced Mercy.

Stop acting as if hiding was mandatory… Mercy’s entire kit makes it do hiding should never even be the answer…

No, not at all, But you can estimate when a player is going to pop there ult… It’s not that hard to estimate.

Mass rez to me is a useless ult for this fact.

No, not at all, But you can estimate when a player is going to pop there ult… It’s not that hard to estimate.

And that means you’re a good mercy, not your ult is Overpowered, otherwise same argument works for Transcendence, you can estimate when Grav will pop out and trans your way into tranquility on their faces.

Mass rez to me is a useless ult for this fact.

1 - Ults charge in different speeds, Healers charge faster, and if your team is countering those heroes well enough, Mass Rez will be ready before blizzard or Mine Field.

2 - That means the enemy team will have to give up strategic heres just ot counter mass rez, and sometimes Mei, Junkrat or Torbjorn won’t be fit for the scenario.

I never said it was … But it happened all the time .
I’ve played since release. I’ve seen it happen in 90% of games when mass rez was still a thing.

Tell me, did you play 90% of the entire game’s matches? Were you already at mid-plat, Diamond or GM before her reword? because this “hide and rez” was just a low-silver tactic, not a balancing issue that affected the match of all the high-levels.

if you want ot discuss issues, never, EVER use your point of view as argument when something concerns all the THOUSANDS of players and their HUNDREDS of matches every minute.

So according to the OP Mass Rez should never return because burning 6 ults in a 5v6, while not trying to even acknowledge the supports and then being punished for it is “not fun”.

And meanwhile we have people who say that Mercy being frustrating to play isn’t enough to ask for a new rework because it is subjective.

Mindblowing.

But isnt it Subjective @Ergotth , Didn’t the rework happen based on the players Point of view.

It happened based on the point of view of the LOUDEST players, not the most numerous. It’s a pretty old complaint how Blizzard gives more attention to the pro-players, streamers and Overwatch League despite how completely DETACHED they are of this game’s reality. Just because they are influencers, they think they are the fittest to know what is balanced and what is not.

Why it should return:
Everyone knows the game went directly downhill the day they reworked her.
Whether or not you believe it, it changed the game entirly.

The moth meta lost so many players.

The only proof i have is my friends list which was easily 30+ friends per day playing it and for some reason that number dropped massivly after the rework.

I honeslty cant even get 1 friend to play with me anymore.

Lets also not forgot the stigma mercy mains were given after the rework. The reworked created a community divide unlike anything this game has seen.

This is an objectively false hyperbole and if anything, the fact that the “Huge Res” achievement pre-rework was extremely rare suggests that “Hide n Res” wasn’t as huge as what people make it out to be since after all, it’s goal is to get maximum numerical value out of the ultimate whilst disregarding the rest of its value.

I’ve played since season 2. I’ve been a Mercy main since season 3, climbed to GM from platinum in this same season and have consistently been in GM ever since. I’ve never seen or heard of “Hide n Res” until Mercy’s rework was announced.

Did you really say mercy should be easy to play and then say she shouldn’t be easy to play? Yeah the game was made with 2/2/2 but at this point Mercy is not fun and overall trash tier her pick rate after plat lowers drastically she just needs a fat buff or rework. And Mass Rez should return because now her ult is once again garbage at least make her rez during valk instant so that way it isnt (Die for the person im rezing or keep valk?)

So what makes Valk any more useful?

Honestly this is so true on SO MANY LEVELS

If the game was designed with the intention of being 2-2-2 why did it launch with such a disparity between dps hero numbers and everyone else? Back at launch, you could even have duplicate heros.

If you have six people hit Q at once at the end of a match after failing every other push to win is it really fun or earned?

What exactly is the counter play to the combination in your example for the average team in QP?

So basically it’s annoying as f*** and it should be replaced with something else?

I don’t like Mass Rez either. Not for the reason you stated in your OP. As far as the scenario in your op, the attacking team should’ve had more gamesense and killed the Mercy 1st and not use all of their ults on one team fight. They could’ve saved one of those ults to kill specifically Mercy and your problem of Mass Rez is solved.

Now the reason I don’t like is few reasons:

  1. It encouraged a healer to hide and not heal them team (purposefully let them die too) just to get an ult off.

  2. Mass Rez was on par/more powerful than Zen’s and Lucio’s ults. (It has the ability to counter enemy ults).

Some people forget to factor in the other main healers when they ask for Mass Rez back. None of the main healers have ults that even come close to the power Mass Rez had by themselves. So why should Mercy have the ult power of an off-healer but the healing power of a main healer?

I have some more reasons but they aren’t worth mentioning in a post like this. These are the main reasons why I don’t like Mass Rez and why I think it should stay buried.

Dude, that’s why rez was needed, to punish bad ult economy like that, and most of the problem could’ve been avoided if Blizz just fixed rez

Because she was pretty balanced that way?

I’ll tell you what. You can keep the healing nerf for Mercy (keep her at 50 HP/s) but bring back Mass Rez with LoS and a 1 second cast time. Blizz can literally copy-paste stuff from Sound Barrier, because it works the exact same way, and that ult works fine with both of those restrictions.

Oh, and for the love of God, drop that awful invulnerability. For an ultimate as powerful as Resurrect, having no risk is just plain broken.
