Man what happened to Blizzard bro?

Except that most AAA games dont ask for a fair share anymore. Some games need you to spend more than 1000$ to get access to all the content it doesnt make any sense.

Or ask that some of the playerbase spend thousands while others pay nothing.

Doesn’t sound “fair share” to me.

There a difference between doing nothing with an eye towards personal gain, and doing almost everything with only an eye towards personal gain.

That is kinda how it is meant to work, if externalities were able to be properly attributed, then that is how it would work.

Ideally, you produce something, which is a net gain after all externalities are taken into account, then you would profit.

Agree but there is the fact that if they make money it also means because people like it and pay it.
Apart from that the game is going to be free play and go play it you don’t really need to pay for battle passes or skins, basically is not a pay to win game.
7 of my friends played the beta and they all including me are happy with how the game is going and the changes really make it feel a bit different and cooler, now back in ow1 feels awful honestly, OW2 definitely better atm
So I don’t really get why you complain so much there

I like EA games. Have you played Apex Legends, its my favorite game with Overwatch and its even free to play so how you can even say that theyre greedy ?

People tend to say thank you in a weird way nowadays when they get AAA title to play for free. I hate games you have to pay to play, I would really like to play Tarkov, but I just wont pay so much for it, its just too much money for a video game when I already spent a lot on my PC and have a bunch of other things I have to pay for. I can buy some skin when I like it and especvially when I like the game but I dont have to if I cant afford it, but I can always enjoy the game…

This FtP trend is hopefully the future of video games because I really like it Im even willing to accept more cheaters in my games, but atleast its free and trust me, there is not much of cheaters in Apex Legends. Cheaters also get bored very quickly.

Ah yes, if a company makes their game f2p then they are exempt from any and all criticism to the monetizations they use. /s

Exactly. The nore stuff you give for free the more people will hate you.

I’m having trouble understanding what you mean, but the trends I’m seeing are that companies give us less and less for free in their f2p games, and more and more things paywalled. And they are happy to hide an awful lot of shenanigans behind the excuse of “but the game is free!”
At certain point there should be a line in the sand, and the sliver of gameplay that is free is not a good enough excuse for the tricks they’re pulling elsewhere. Where that line is is different for all of us, but you know, at least haggle a bit. Nobody else will. The corporations certainly won’t give you good deals out of the goodness of their hearts.

Im sorry but if you give a credit card to your Fortnite kids hands then its on you pal. Someone just needs to learn the hard way…

What happened is they were purchased by Activision. :point_left:

you know there are companies that sell box games, make money, and produce quality content. It can be done, they even add DLC so when something has been completed or added to the game you can buy it. these sudo subscriptions for games are just crazy. SquareEnix has produced games that they manage, sell at box value, and have relatively low monetization and the company turns a profit. Blizzard might actually turn a profit and have a good product if they invested more money in paying employees instead of bonuses for Bobby.

Wasn’t this like 11 years ago or something? Or was that simply the partnership and being bought out was a later development?

You‘ll do great in life, you‘ll do great…

This is literally what people said about Overwatch having loot boxes in 2016 lol.

It turned out OK then and it will now, too.

Gaming in general these days is filled with corporate drones who would unironically answer “yes” this question. In any other industry the customers get angry when a product gets a dollar more expensive, meanwhile gamers are thrilled for the opportunity to spends hundreds on a game instead of $60

Because as long as morons exist, it will work. Corporations adapted old concept, that used to belong only to criminals and people commiting major frauds - “fool ain’t no dinosaur and won’t go extinct”.

It’s not a bad thing either. It’s like food - if you eat enough, you are ok, if you eat too much, you become fat.

You would be surprised, how many naive fools will pay for it anyway.

Gamers tend to be a quite irrational sort of people. But to be fair, “fandom” is always irrational.

And that’s why they deserve to be exploited?

Gaming is the only industry where people fly into an angry rage over being asked to pay a meagre sum of money for hundreds of hours of entertainment.

Look up the price to unlock everything in any free to play game, it’ll be at least $1,000 usually over $10,000. Not exactly a “meager sum”
