dota is free to play, smurfing is activly hurting their player retention, thus lowering their revenue
overwatch is pay to play, smurfing activly increases their profit via the purchase of new accounts

Please don’t be that person. People in Ireland says that as there is no document based around proving covids existence, it isn’t real. Common sense is a vertue.
This maths can be easily proven wrong by reading the annual statements.
That is why F2P is the model most devs are going for in future.
He can’t. Because blizzards own accounting statements prove him wrong.
They are avaliable to all if you are bored enough to read them.
Sadly though, because I enjoy pointing out everything thing he is wrong about… his definition of smurf v alt accounts is pretty much spot on.
Then again, smurf accounts just aren’t an issue really.

It’s not like this on consoles. U can create unlimited accounts with one copy of the game and Blizz still don’t want to do anything. It’s really hard to play here.

If you can create multiple accounts for free, how can it be a “cash grab”. They didn’t actually sell that many copies on console.
And, how do you know what they care about, do you sit with them on a daily basis and ask?
That depends if the money from smurfs buying new copies of the game outweights the money from legit players buying lootboxes.
Sadly, by now it seems smurf $$$ is more important for the all-mighty bottom line.
Seeing as loot boxes made them around $1billion last year… I highly doubt a few new accounts came anywhere near that.
In fact, just look at the annual statements… And you will know they didn’t. In reality they barely make any money from new account sales.
It is literally their lowest income stream.
