Yes, but not all sorts of throwing can be detected… sadly we can’t guarantee the player behind the screen is trying
Oh is that what the official definition of smurfing actually is?
Says who?
Where did you get your definition of smurfing?
that is what it is
you either agree or you don’t, if you don’t then you’re kinda obtuse shrugs
Ohhh, it is?
Says who?
Ill neither agree or disagree. I simply cited professional developers and what they had to say on the matter
You’re the one saying they’re wrong insisting that what you are saying is “what it actually is”
I’m glad to believe you.
But I hope you’ll excuse me if I don’t simply take your word for it.
If asking you for verification is “obtuse”, hey- sure
But if you’re going to make claims, and not back them up to any degree- then I honestly have no problems not taking you seriously at all.
So. says who?
the majority of the community agree
smurfing is the act of maintaining a low ranked account through throwing or other deranking means in order to stomp on less skilled players
alting is having an alt account on which you play normally allowing it to settle within your usual SR bracket
that is all
And you obviously speak for this so called “majority”?
Well I say the majority doesn’t agree. So there.
Says who?
Says who?
Whatever you say, Allmight. I’ll be glad to listen to ya when you can provide some references and not ambiguous assertions to your so called faceless “majority”.
agree or don’t… smurfing is as how i have described, the devs are wrong, they know they are wrong, and are purposefully spreading misinformation because of Money, as always
GG EZ
What a compelling argument you make in light of you having zero references to support your claim.
Make sure you click those slippers 3 times as you repeat this out loud Dorothy my friend.
lol.
Cuz you say so? Annndd… Who are you again?
Ohhhh that’s what it is. That explains why dota is banning smurfs.
If you can’t verify your claims, you need only say so my friend. It’s not a bad thing.
Oh the horrible punctuation it huuurts.
dota is free to play, smurfing is activly hurting their player retention, thus lowering their revenue
overwatch is pay to play, smurfing activly increases their profit via the purchase of new accounts
shame you can’t do this kind of simple math
Shame you can’t just back up your claims.
Please don’t be that person. People in Ireland says that as there is no document based around proving covids existence, it isn’t real. Common sense is a vertue.
This maths can be easily proven wrong by reading the annual statements.
That is why F2P is the model most devs are going for in future.
He can’t. Because blizzards own accounting statements prove him wrong.
They are avaliable to all if you are bored enough to read them.
Sadly though, because I enjoy pointing out everything thing he is wrong about… his definition of smurf v alt accounts is pretty much spot on.
Then again, smurf accounts just aren’t an issue really.
It’s not like this on consoles. U can create unlimited accounts with one copy of the game and Blizz still don’t want to do anything. It’s really hard to play here.
don’t doubt it, the console release of overwatch was just a cash grab, and they care even less for the game there than they do on PC
This is false information and just a tilted swipe for no valid reason.
If you can create multiple accounts for free, how can it be a “cash grab”. They didn’t actually sell that many copies on console.
And, how do you know what they care about, do you sit with them on a daily basis and ask?
That depends if the money from smurfs buying new copies of the game outweights the money from legit players buying lootboxes.
Sadly, by now it seems smurf $$$ is more important for the all-mighty bottom line.
Seeing as loot boxes made them around $1billion last year… I highly doubt a few new accounts came anywhere near that.
In fact, just look at the annual statements… And you will know they didn’t. In reality they barely make any money from new account sales.
It is literally their lowest income stream.
Here’s the difference you can make money playing dota casually
