just making sure so it is biased and discriminating on ability to win.
the rich get richer, basically.
…looks like you made your mind up before I even replied and as I said, the alternative would be far worse…
subjective and nope for everyone i surveyed.
do you want new players or not?
new players won’t win. they’ll be completely alienated from the grind.
it’s a put-off. give slightly more xp for the loss and pull the rewards back from outter space.
So is your shilling for this company along with Prett’s, but if we called out every single one of you we’d be here all day and nobody has time for that.
Thing is, while I at least can get behind things to work towards in the long run, there’s a difference between games played and games won. The average casual player who plays an hour or two a day, heck, maybe an hour or two on the WEEKEND isn’t going to feel like they’re working towards anything with this kind of system.
Again I’m thinking of the limited time event skins - many casuals, people with jobs, etc., didn’t have time to earn them through wins, and I say this as someone who was fortunate enough to make/manage the time to earn them all.
I cannot begin to express how much I despise Mystery Heroes in so many words here. I don’t want to get it with wins passively, because I do not want to play it at all. I’ve already given up on getting the Duel one because it’s “win one game of Duel (any game)” and I also cannot express how much I hate Duel as a mode.
Like the Deathmatch ones? I still think 500 wins is excessive, but it’s also any Deathmatch mode. I love 4v4 Team Deathmatch. I can play 4v4 for wins if need be. I’d still rather do it as games played though, because again, 500 wins still feels like an excessive grind.
And again, all this claim of “lifetime” challenges…how long do we even know the game’s lifetime is going to be? As you said, semi-jokingly, but in reality how long is OW2 going to last compared to its predecessor? How long is it going to last compared to modern titles? Games get shut down much quicker these days.
How many video games do you have that arent 100% completed with all achievements unlocked?
Funny you mention that, once again, thanks to the absolutely miserable experience that was DOOM 2016 (and its multiplayer that cemented for me how much I DESPISE PvP games and PvP modes), ever since I found Steam Achievement Manager I’ve had a much better time with that.
Used to be I would miserably endure playing games I hated because the logic was, if I 100%-ed the achievements then I would have no reason to ever return to it/keep playing it and I could officially drop it and never look at it again. Is that healthy or normal? Probably not, but it is what it is.
DOOM 2016 was the last straw as their multiplayer showed what happens when you put all your map creativity into a mode with no anticheat or matchmaking and required you to play until you were like…level 900 something in it to earn an armor piece to wear that was part of an achievement.
After that broke me, I found Steam Achievement Manager through discussion forums for a different game I was playing (I think it was Mad Max) and now I can just cheat in the achievements for games I don’t like. Or for games that no longer have functioning systems or extremely gamebreaking bugs - for example, the aforementioned Mad Max game and Bioshock 2 shut down their multiplayer/online servers. As such, certain achieves are no longer collectable, at all. (Which is a shame, since BS2’s multiplayer was at least interesting as a concept, but understandable.) There was also Magicka, which was gifted to me like, 15 years ago. I have no interest in paying Paradox $600 for DLC for a game I got for free, a game that isn’t even that great to begin with, to complete its achievements.
And before people start griping at me about “integrity” (as if that matters in video games), there are games I’ve 100%-ed that I do like and thus play legitimately. I earned all of Blasphemous’ achieves. I earned Bioshock 1’s. I earned all the Psychonauts achievements in BOTH GAMES legitimately, even if the Meat Circus level in the first one took me approximately 4 hours to beat on its own.
Most of the games now that I haven’t got 100% completion done on are either this game (since I can’t just wave my hand and put in achieves here, which I would do, 'cause tbh, there’s no way I’m ever going to willingly play enough Widow to get her stuff and I don’t know if Bap’s achieves are still broken or not) or games I, ironically, want to keep playing and 100% legitimately on my own (such as Fallout 4, Skyrim, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.).
…I realize this was a novel-length response to your question. Sorry.
Playing the game is miserable to you? That’s a little dramatic broski
Yeah well, I can’t a multiplayer FPS game like I could World of Warcraft.
I love WoW. I love the big wide-open world to explore, the stuff to collect, the tasks to do, especially in WOTLK.
I hate the monetization, but I ESPECIALLY hate the people who play it. Nothing chapped my hide more than trying to do my dailies as a little level 30 Hordeling and some level 80 Alliance with an ego bigger than his ganking me, and this was on a private server to boot.
I found certain circles that turn the game into a singleplayer experience with bots. I’ve never been happier.
Believe me, if I could do the same with Overwatch, you people would never see me again. Arguably, if and when the PvE drops, that might just happen.
Yes, I’m clearly shilling because they have an untimed challenge for playing the game and you don’t want to do it but are playing the game anyways
I’m the idiot here, clearly
You’re making a whine post for something you don’t even really want to do, yet have nothing better to do with your time?
You’re insufferable.
Why do you care about an MH title if you hate MH itself?
Because Shapeshifter sounds cool and I’m vain, and I like to collect things.
I read through the thread and I can understand where you’re coming from, it does seem like a bit of a hard grind, even for a lifetime achievement with no time limit…
I guess there’s just no way around it though. The way I see it, it will raise the value of the title itself at least. Ain’t no way I’m playing Mystery Heroes for that long, it’s awful and very RNG lol
Would be a lot better if it was just games played and not games won for such a “pray to God and hope you have better team/you’re on attacking side” gamemode, but like, I don’t think they’re gonna change the requirements anytime soon…
