MAJORITY of players favor MMR reset, blizz doesn't respond

Basically as it stands right now, a GM can throw all his placements and still get Masters…WHAT?

They just don’t care. A reset would be nice, it gives everyone a chance to vs everyone at every rank each season. Why not? I don’t see a problem with that at all. Every player would move to their deserved rank eventually anyway. Why not change this garbage? The devs MUST see all the posts and input about hidden MMR being a scam, if they haven’t changed it by now, they never will.

Reset is completely pointless, you would end up in same place as you are now eventualy. You are where you are based on your play.

really curious how many players favor this. I personally think that the majority of players that understand mmr and understand what placements do to allow you to move 300ish pretty easily if your stats are out of whack would realize that an MMR reset is pointless and unneeded and will just create chaos on the ladder

It’s a terribly stupid idea. The beginning of the season would be an ABSOLUTE mess. You’d LITERALLY have masters playing with bronzes. Silvers vs diamonds. The game would kind of be a lottery at that point.

That being said, I’d be carrying most of my games, so if you wanna reset the MMR and give me some stream content, go for it.

Competitive will never get a major rework, It just won’t. For some people they think it is working fine, others its trash. To me there are a lot more negatives than positives when it comes to competitive and matchmaking, and I also think that there are more things holding players back than helping them push forward. They made competitive into a treadmill and not a ladder, It doesn’t feel like you are meant to climb, more so just meant to fluctuate within a couple hundred of the rank it thinks you are. I don’t like it but i realize nothing we say or do is going to change anything so IMO anything else besides playing 10 placements and then retiring is pointless.

That’s because they do their placements, get placed within 100± of where they end last season. No more needs to be done.
MMR reset will make people work for their ranks again instead of the centrelink positions they are given over and over again each season.
Why are people scared to start from scratch, is it because some know without the help of others they WILL NOT be were they placed last season. Or are some people not willing to admit that the system is broken and needs an overhaul.
The system is never broken to those that don’t have to work for their ranks then the min effort required.
As a support main, I find it a crapshow with the sr system in gains/loss, more loss of sr then gain even with more wins then loss.
But it could just come down to “get good” as some believe a single person is required to do, not that its a team game, but seems to be about solo play.

Like literally every post , similar to this one has stated, resetting MMR is just gonna make higher ranked players have to carry through lower ranked games again. No ones “scared” that they won’t be able to get back to their rank, it’s more-so that no one wants to be forced, as a GM player, to play with/against bronze/silver players who have no idea what they’re doing.

Now, if you really want an MMR reset, that means me, as a low GM player with 5+ accounts, is gonna have to run through bronze/silvers, and then we’ll actually have some unfair matchmaking.

will create chaos on the ladder? a few days ago i had a 3 stack -bronze,silver,gold- in my team! so tell me about chaos buddy ^^!

Chaos would be a team of 4 GMs , who now have a reset mmr, stacking with eachother at the beginning of the season, rolling EVERY game they play because the enemy is from a random rank.

Awwww, you spent money buying more then one account, so that you can practice on one, play different heros on others, smurf on more…
And there is the problem with this game. blizzard are not going to stop it, so the sr is a crapshow at best.
So what if they have to go through the ranks, if they are good enough, they will climb in no time without much trouble.
I don’t see the point of your debate about it.
Some people only played 50+ and less then 60 matches last season from the top 500, So that means they only did the min to stop decay, good way for the seasons to be in those ranks. Just give them the rank and don’t expect more, have them buy more accounts so they don’t ruin their spots…

Yesterday I had a thrower who was GM in season 5&6, dropped down in season 8 from 3.8k to 3k and only placed last season where he dropped again from 3.4k to 3k. Now he is high Plat so tell me why is a player like this allowed to hover in ranks he does not belong in for so long? He was Plat the season before he got GM so either boosted or throwing. If there was a MMR reset people wouldn’t have to struggle with such useless teammates and feel like the game is unfair.

People will always get boosted, its how a lot get to high ranks then sit back on alt accounts and crapshow other sr lvls.
Blizz will do nothing as they like the revenue from people buying accounts to do just that.

Did you conduct a survey of all players because I didn’t get one.

People shouldn’t make such fanciful statements without proof to back up their claim.

As for your idea, it’s terrible.

It’s bad enough you have high tier players on low tier smurfs ruining games. All an MMR reset would do would see it like that in every match until the (former) high tier players got back to their usual level.

It wont happen. You will have murderous smurfs and GM’s and top500’s in your game even more… unless they did a SR reset every single season and updated how their system functioned… from the ground up… which isn’t likely. They Did a Reset in Season 2 when they changed it the first time. Honestly they wont do it because it’s too much of a time investment for most likely very little return.

Personally i played at least 4 games where there was an MMR reset and after months i ended up much higher than i was before. 3 years and MMR tweaks without reset and the ranks became solid and immovable as a rock. Except for T500 players doing bronze-GM plays and smurfs.

MMR reset is a complete waste of time stop suggesting this

First of all it would have to be revealed how this match manipulating system works.
MMR is MUCH more than hero and map statistics.
A reset of ALL data taken into account during matchmaking would have catastrophic consequences.
Blizzard will never talk about it because there are secrets to be used in other games as well.

Maybe for the first game or two.

If we’re to believe how the system works, the game would (“should”) recognize that these players are far superior to the ones they just stomped, so it should match them up against significantly more skilled players each time they win, until it reaches the point where the wins are becoming really hard-fought.

An MMR reset would only result in chaos and frustration for everyone.

And it’s more then just a few games as the system requires 15 games approximately up to master however that’s in a stable environment with all these references and ability to put someone in very specifically matched games.
If wiping out the entire skill index it would be much more of a roller coaster.

So what’s the incentive to go through with something that only will make games extremely one sided and piss people off when the end result will be about the same?

The amount of people who play on higher ranks then they should be due to being boosted or whatever also seems quite few in comparison to the complete opposite, those who play on a lower rank then they could and an MMR reset would benefit all those trolls, especially if it was a regular thing as it would be much easier to throw a few games and maintain a low rank and stomp for fun when feeling for it once everything have stabilized. Sure, it would be nice to get rid of boosted people but they get rid of themself…

Point being, one can fake being bad, not being good.

Why would they reset MMR when they’re selling individual MMR resets at $20 a pop?
