[Main Thread] Frequent Crashing in Overwatch 2 - Nov 2023

Still having this problem and no one, not even Blizzard can give a clear sign on how to fix it. Mine just started happening when that stupid new event in-game for BlizzCon started. I did everything on my side to fix this problem but when my other games (which are WAY MORE RESOURCE DEMANDING) can work 100% with no crash, this problem has to be with Blizzard. October went fine, OW ran great for hours, but after this recent event in game, can’t play more than 20-30 minutes before “Overwatch has crashed in the graphics driver. If your drivers are not up-to-date, please consider updating them. If the problem persists, please contact customer service.” or the new one I got tonight, “Your rendering device has been lost!”.

How much you want to bet that after they patch out this stupid event, your game will go back to normal.

I’ve updated to the new one and also reverted to previous versions and it doesn’t help. I never used to crash prior to the new kpop event. I do know that these cards are missing older driver builds to play stuff like resident evil revelations. Not sure why but that’s the only thing I can think of.

same issue, already suspended once over it, please help us small indie company

I have the same problem here but with RTX4090, drivers whatsoever are up to date yet still crash mostly after a match is done or just started. This problem just came up like within a weak. Reinstall, check file integrity, change from battle net to steam won’t fix the issue.
Funny thing is that even my client crashed, the sever seems to recognize me as still in the game, I stay still in the party but out of the current match.

Same exact issue started about 3 weeks ago, ironically about the time the original poster made this thread. RTX 4070ti, temps are sub 40c, no overclock, drivers up to date, 32yr network/software engineer here…DXDiag points to the game itself crashing the GPU, not an external variable…again started with whatever changes were made about a month ago.

Greetings,

I am experiencing severe game crashes with different error codes. I am currently suspended from rank games for 19hrs. The most recent crash error code is:

9EC71009-A047-4451-9E91-1E3EEBCC0932

My GPU is AMD 6800M. AMD Radeon Software version is 23.11.1. After searching through the forum, I have also disabled “Radeon Boost.” I am at a lost what else to do because no other games on my laptop have any technical issues at all.

I am having the EXACT same issue and I’m on an AMD 6900. Up until the last update, I’ve had 0 issues playing Overwatch, now I lag like crazy or it crashes completely. I have 0 issues in any other game. Extremely frustrating.

Hey there Riceball and Tbl,

We have seen some reports of AMD Radeon 6000 series cards having random crashes in Overwatch 2. Most of the time these have been fixed by disabling Radeon Boost in AMD driver. Information on doing that is here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh2-033#faq-Configuring-Radeon-Boost

This worked! No more crashing on my AMD 6800

EDIT: Wasn’t boost the reason people were getting VAC banned on cs2? No games likes AMD Boost i guess

So how do you fix this issue on Nvidia RTX 4070ti cards that arent overclocked, are under 40c, and have current drivers? Started crashing after whatever patch you guys pushed about a month ago give or take a few days.

I would try disabling the equivalent of AMD Boost, i think its called NVIDIA Reflex? Whatever nvidias latency reduction tech is called

FYI that doesn’t work. Keep getting crashes and yeah been happening for over a month now. Why do I even try and play this game haha.

I have encounter the problem that my game crashes, mostly after a match is done or just started. This problem just came up like within a week. Reinstall, check file integrity, drivres update, change from battle net to steam won’t fix the issue.
Funny thing is that even my client crashed, the sever seems to recognize me as still in the game, I stay still in the party but out of the current match.

You arent alone. Happens almost every game…rendering device lost, or some other handful of codes, but theres no over temp, drivers are up to date, etc…it started after a patch bout 3 and a half weeks ago…and I hoped they would have fixed it by now.

Yep, this right here. You are not alone and it’s been happening to me for the a month now. I’ve done everything in my power to try and fix this because Blizzard tech support is beyond clueless. I just uninstalled the game. I can’t be getting triggered by a game that doesn’t want to help itself yet the community help fix this problem. Always get the same cop out excuse from “Nicole” or Blizzard Tech.

So~ any dev or tech support is going to talk about issue besides telling us AMD got works to do? Lots of us here use Nvidia GPU so the solution or status update is literally useless for us. I don’t demand the issue should be fixed in a blink, I just want to know what might happened and someone is working on it or at least you’re trying.

4090, 13900k, nothing overheats, latest drivers, PLEASE DO SOMETHING BLIZZ, got my second suspension because of this

still crashing, nothing over heats, newest version of game, newest GPU drivers. up.

I too have recently been crashing multiple times per match. I get a crash report and go ahead and send it each time, but it’d be great to get this fixed. My machine is a AMD 5800x with a rtx3070 if that helps.
