Lucio is a weird hero to me?

Like his wall riding makes it so he can jump around map and stalling doing damage and being tough to kill, but when you take into account the range of healing/speed if you start doing crazy wall rides you end up hurting your team. Can someone explain to me what the devs were thinking when they made these 2 core ability s of Lucio contradict one another?

They need to buff his range. Maybe not back to what it was, but if you are on any part of the point you should be healing everyone on the point imo.

Lucio is good for contesting objectives.

His healing/speed aura covers a good portion of any objective while his wall riding makes him hard to hit.

The idea was to make Lucio more skill based and active since before, you could wall ride endlessly and still passively heal your team from the ceiling. To do this, they made the aura smaller and increased the healing output. However, the numbers were tweaked and actually nerfed from PTR to release back then (50% increase in healing to 33% increased healing I believe, so in the end, it feels like Lucio actually lost power.

Maybe it’s time to increase his healing again then, or his range. But before wallride meant skating at the top of pillars perpetually contesting the point while being a mile high up and STILL being able to heal your team.

I remember one game on LiJiang Towers I wallrided at the peak of the central pillar and got something like 30 minutes objective time. It was total scrub tactics by me, but I also got something like 30k healing, and we won. Match took close to an hour lol.

To be fair most maps you can’t contest at the sky box and now you have to stay on the ground to heal you r team. Can’t we find a middle ground between the two?

That’s what I personally want. He’s not fun if his wallride doesn’t synergize with the rest of his kit.

What he DEFINITELY needs though is to not have his songs removed when hacked (he’s the only non-hybrid healer who can’t actually heal from hack that I’m aware of) and a decrease to his ult cast time. He suffers the most from stun = ult cancelling mechanics.

Power creep has hit him very very hard. Probably moreso or just as badly as Reinhardt.
