i really do think that people over-estimate the amount of DPS players that would be willing to play Tank.
i think very offensive tanks would result in more DPS players beeing offended and quitting the game rather than swapping to play them, especailly beacuse even the more aggresive tanks are still tanks. and they still have to contest objectives and make space.
and what people who want to play DPS want to do is to frag enemies, go and get the kills, not push the point.
In my opinion, a direction like that would probably result in either the current amount of tank players remaining or diminishing, and DPS players diminishing as well
Nobody wants to stay on the point and get Choked. So I get it, I always play as D.va (offense and defense usually go dive) but yea, most DPS players I know hate playing tanks especially Orisa/Zarya/Ball
Really depends if devs make it so offensive Tanks aren’t too unfun to duel.

Tanks having more potential to win objectives will matter a lot less.

I think the concept of a hero with double/triple the amount of HP as you dealing similar damage to a DPS will feel unfair in the eyes of DPS players regardless of what you do.

Well i cant really find any data on that, but in my opinion, i dont see why they would be much different.
From personal experience, i, a person who already prefers more tanky characters in general am more likely to pick “FPS” tanks because i already have a preference towards that playstyle (alongside builders of course, i also do love me my builders)
but players who prefer the more “mainstream” DPS are likely still represented by those playing the more offensive and quicker classes than the slower ones like picking scout or soldier over heavy in the TF2 side of things.
But it’s a really bad strategy, then. Rein is a bit like Mercy - a fair number of people love playing him, but the rest largely absolutely despise it. Rein is bluntly not what most people come to OW looking to do. He has no gun despite being in a FPS. Rein is not the tank they should push if they want people to tank; he’s probably the actual worst tank to push for that.
I honestly think that the fact that tanking below diamond equals playing Reinhardt is one of the main reasons there are so few tanks in the game.

Rein is already the de-facto best tank for most of the playerbase and has been for the last few years, this is as short-sighted as the 50% reaper buff was.
Exactly. Rein is balanced alone but the rein zarya comps are already too strong below masters. Only mid diamond and above is where you also need brig to survive the dives. If this buff goes through, you cant just play dive or hog comps knowing that rein will shatter you every fight. This buff only makes sense with 20% ult charge nerf. What is confusing to me is why they buff him. This buff is not something that will make rein better in gm. He will only be viable in certain maps with another shield tank. Whats the point o the buff?
You are right it wasnt OP below Masters because nothing is OP below Masters.
It feels fun honestly i want the dmg alone to go through, i think the extra 50 armour is overkill.
Also ult charge nerf.
