Lore implications of Redwood Dam

The new map Redwood dam has some really disturbing implications. The place in the world with the most redwoods that look like the ones in Redwood dam is the North Coast of California. However, up there in the north coast, especially into the Klamath mountains, dams are a huge problem…
Like, seriously.
The people who live up there have been fighting for decades for the hydroelectric dams to be removed in order for the salmon to be able to spawn upriver. The timing is really strange that the map was released right when ecological efforts have really been coming through on dam removal.

I know that overwatch isnt a stranger to in-universe ecological devastation but … MY SALMON?? ARE THEY SAFE??? ARE THEY OKAY?
I feel like Lifeweaver and Mei should be a lot more worried (even though Lifeweaver isn’t in stadium) because they’re a Naturalist and a Climatologist.
Pray for a new character to appear and destroy redwood dam so my fish can be free!

What do my fellow lore enthusiasts think? has anyone explored the map? are there fish like in antarctica?

Maybe the OW universe has perfected the mighty salmon cannon and we’ll get a salmon-projectile hero in the future.

If you look at the bottom right corner of this video from the Stadium beta, they used the Canada flag for the Redwood Dam, but that might have just been placeholder

good point! perhaps climate change has advanced so far that the range of redwood trees has completely jumped straight across both Oregon and Washington to end up in British Columbia?? That’s a pretty long distance for a range change.

Its an interestibg observation!

My thought is if they have figured out human, intelligent animal, and Omnic regeneration, scientists in the OW2 Universe probably figured out how to teleport salmon from the bottom part of the dam to the top.
