Life grip fix idea

Seriously.

We get one like ever 3 days.

And the answer is always the same: Its already clunky enough, make it an “interact” button move would make it even worse. And would basically be a dead ability.

And lets not forget that there is a good chunk of players who don’t even have the Interact option bound to a key (or know what key it even is), and/or don’t even know what it does. Sym mains know this all to well. lol

Listening to this kind of brainrotted opinions is why OW is in this current state.

  1. LW is already engaging for people that arent you.
  2. ‘‘fun to play against’’ is a worthless metric.

People still complain about it. lol

Bad walls are some of the most egregious fails in the entire game, especially since EVERYONE in the match sees it and is effected by it. Worse than a bad Lifegrip for sure.

This one’s fun bc it doesn’t even mention that the ally gets any immunity or any benefit during the 3-4 second tether. Literally no payoff for the Lifeweaver whatsoever unless the ally deigns to hit F lmfaooo. At least the pitches that grant immunity allow the Lifeweaver to do… something. Even though that’s also broken for obvious reasons

OMG, the amount of times I place a TP to save some, get out of a ult, ect. And my team just ignore it are INSANE.

Sym mains know the pain so well

I mean, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I mainly play him when I’m cooked and don’t feel like having to put in any effort.

To me, he is the most bland and boring character to play in the entire game.

This goes both ways, genius. Your opinion holds no more validity than my own.

Sounds like you suck at Lifeweaver. Sorry for my bluntness. Your vitriol seems to make it warranted at least.

And to me Tracer is a bland and boring hero, whos kit its meh at best.

But I know that people do find her kit intresting and love it.

Not every hero needs to be for everyone.

People are going to complain about the most minor thing that inconveniences them.

Which is why I am done with trying to find middle ground with complainers and egotistic people. Pandering to them will never be enough until the heroes they hate are deleted. That has always been the end goal and reworks/nerfs are just something they do in the meanwhile.

No, it doesnt.

Because my opinion comes from respecting the hero diversity that is the lifeblood of this game, and yours wants to defile it.

I find Tracer a boring and simplistic hero whose main enjoyment comes from being overpowered, but I am not out there demanding that the hero be reworked into a bootleg Symmetra.

Even if it would be funny to see Tracer annihilated, I understand that she has a place and role in this game. Something that people like you dont respect about other heroes, and thats why we end up with heroes destroyed by nerfs and reworks.

Hard disagree.

For me? This is Cassidy. Or Widowmaker.

Reaper/Tracer/Zen are more boring imo

Hell, Mauga and Zarya are way more boring and they are the only tanks I play.

So, by your logic, playing characters that you find boring makes you bad at the game… :person_facepalming:

Fair enough. I could make a point about when Lifeweaver is good, the game is trash, but you’ll probably disagree, so it won’t even matter.

If that’s your opinion, then cool. I don’t agree with it, though. :ok_hand:

So far when LW was good it did nothing to the game other than enable more heroes. Popular DPS heroes werent less viable, they just didnt have a stream of free kills brought directly into their mouths.

When Tracer is strong(er), she shoves out most of the role and takes 85% of the cake in high ranks.

I think that is a very big difference.

And that is fine, im not trying to convince you should like LW. Hate him all you want.

Im just saying that people do like his kit, and that its fine that some people dont like his kit.

When did I ever state that I didn’t want any kind of hero diversity in the game? You’re making stuff up to strengthen your argument that you think you’ve won when it’s all imaginary.

He enabled them, alright? He enabled a super-sustainable meta where literally nothing ever died.

Unless,

You were playing DPS characters like Bastion, Sojourn, Hanzo, and Widow, all of whom were capable of killing through the sustain before their enemies could get healed.

There aren’t many players out there who like being forced to play a certain way with only a few viable characters that are capable of performing; otherwise, they lose.

If players liked that, LW wouldn’t have been nerfed.

This is a fallacy; every single character on the roster can be played into Tracer; she doesn’t shut down any opportunities.

This is literally just ‘‘cater LW to ME and people like ME’’.

Not only is the ‘‘nothing dies’’ lie stale by now, but also LW’s mediocre HPS doesnt keep anyone alive against good DPS.

LW is both a terrible hero and somehow made everything immortal all at the same time. How curious.

‘‘Played into’’ is not the same that ‘‘has a fair chance against’’.

Currently, most DPS heroes have basically no real chance at doing anything against Tracer. Which is why she is dominating high ranks and mirrored in both sides.

People who like having engaging characters in the game but don’t like characters with long cooldowns and abilities where you’re just pressing buttons. Yeah, I guess you’re right… That’s me…

We’re just going to pretend season 6 didn’t exist, and it’s all just a lie. :skull:

When he was good, he created a super-sustainable meta. Now, after they nerfed him, he’s trash. What’s so hard to understand here?

You have the most fair chance you’re going to have going up against a Tracer. Hit your shots, force her recall, either predict her recall and kill her right then or she’s out of the fight for twelve seconds.

As much as I hate saying this, if you can’t land your shots on her and you can do this on any character, again, she doesn’t shut down anyone’s opportunities; that’s your problem and a skill issue.

Here is an idea. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

I’m sorry, was Life Weaver in 2016 Overwatch and I’ve just somehow completely missed that?

I fail to see how Life Weaver was in OW1 at all, or in OW2 on release.

We have added a gun to Fifa yet some people seem annoyed by the change in gameplay.

Your arguments here seem more childish than anything.

Duo team Chess.

Also name other multiplayer team based games where you are gifted the ability to completely subsume control of a teammate?

This maintains current functionality if we add on a pull on death function to it.

You’ve yet to give a convincing argument as to why this wouldn’t be better than this mess of a current state.

We have the ability to mitigate those other aspects Presley. Pray tell how I am expected to mitigate Life Grip.

If only those players would come to the table and actually talk about potential other reworks. Until they do, we will continue popping out threads like this with rework suggestions. They need to negotiate for themselves here, we can only assume so much for them.

Do those things completely take over my character? Is there no way to avoid it? Is it something out of my hands?

Res, Nano, Kitsune, Sound barrier do not control you character. Res is the closest and it requires that you have already died.

As long as people like you keep defending terrible abilities like Life Grip and refuse to work on actually solving these problems, we will continue to suffer those failures being in the game.

You say, deliberately missing the big picture yourself.

Honestly good, it’s a terrible ability for the game in this form. It needs a rework

Feel free to make it as big and obvious as you want it to be by default. Make the prompt fill the screen.

If people want to adjust it, they’ll do it after they’ve seen it the first time.

Fun to play against and fun to play with have heavy correlation with agency. Life Grip reduces agency in the game overall and the fun of the game plummets.

Mei walls can only restrict a small part of the map. Grip controls everything.

Stop life grip from ruining agency and I will be happy for the character to exist doing their thing. Hell at that point I might main them, which is what I was considering prior to the realisation that it ruins agency.

But you will argue for Tracer to be nerfed into line. You know, because you’re saying the character has been buffed too much.

Whenever he’s good it’s a sustain meta, and no one enjoys sustain metas.

No we entered a sustain meta where the number 1 complaint was that nothing died and fights dragged on for far too long. It also encouraged one shot characters, another highly contentious part of the game since they could cut through the sustain, for obvious reasons.

Valid viewpoint.

Life Weaver in his meta season post three gigabuffs enabled a sustain meta.

Life Weaver in his current state is near useless.

Bad news bud. Life grip is a miserable mess in need of a fix.

I like it, makes it take more skill too

Or, maybe you realize that its ok for people to want to change something… That when a vast majority of players say something isn’t fun, you might be a minority… and that its not logical for a hero to have an ability to deny agency.

It already does enable aggressiveness, it’d just be easier to do so. Horrible idea with Tracer as she is now, giving her a second discount recall will make her more oppressive. Though it would be mildly amusing to see Weaver become meta for the first time but as just a pedestal lol
