LGBTQ rights don't belong on OW Forums

Considering racial minorities, lgbtq, and women are targeted all the time in overwatch cyberbullying (not just overwatch though - many other games and parts of the internet) I have to disagree

Now I represent two of those categories and it doesn’t bother me that much but I know some people are more deeply affected

In fact - I think it’d be important for overwatch to have a stronger political presence, especially if this stuff is happening on their turf. Bullying is not okay

By a stronger political presence i mean some type of positive influence on cyber bullying and on these issues

I also say this because it literally happens WITHIN their community. If I had a classroom of students , and I noticed discrimination/bullying going on, it would be extremely neglectful for me to say - “my only job is to teach math. So let’s ignore that stuff and only talk about math.”

I am consistently shocked that a game where one of the central narrative questions is: “does this group of living, sentient people with their own unique experiences and cultures have the right to exist?” can be this averse to political discussions. For Jeff’s sake, SPLATOON discussions are more comfortable with politics than this Forum.

LGBTQ characters make up a good number of LGBTQ threads, which isn’t even inherently political. Rights hardly show up in any of them, besides the right to exist- which seems to be at the core of the issue for the homophobes. This thread really doesn’t have much of a reason behind it, other than to enable that kind of behavior.

Also, havin’ a gay best friend don’t mean anything. Some of my best friends are liberals, doesn’t mean my leftist behind doesn’t think they’re full of dung when they say capitalism can support an equal and equitable system for disadvantaged people in our country.
