That’s what’s up. Do you see an anime going, they’re gay cause… words.
Do they do this in anime? No, everybody gets it from the get go, sailor moon, evangelion, Mirai nikki…
What I hate is when they’re trying to show us like they’re inclusive, what I would like is, being more natural with it. Like sex education with Eric for example, he’s gay from the get go, we get invested in the story, it goes smoothly, everybody is natural around him.
In order to have an arc, he should exist first, he was just here to make an excuse for Jack. My question is why did it really matter in the first place?
He did exist before hand. Chu was very clear about this.
So just to be clear –
Pepper and Tony’s relationship is a prominent element to a story arc encompassing a dozen films: this is fine and normal character development.
Jack has a dozen words written for him in an oblique reference to Vincent: why do these SJWs have to keep shoving it down our throats? Why does it matter?
You’re the one suggesting that Chu just named Jack gay and called it a day. Meanwhile, the reality was that he was revealed to have had a relationship with someone in a short story about Ana. The whole story was about nostalgia and old wounds…
The fact that all you interpreted from that is “wow soldier is gay” means you haven’t read it properly. Either that or your own bias is twisting the narrative.
That’s what twitter gave a damn about, no one gave a damn about ana, vincent or the story at all, the only thing important was: soldier 76 is gay. And to that I say does it MATTER, does it make the lore GO FURTHER AND BEYOND. He’s just gay, good for him can we move on now?
Clearly they did if people are going to write long essays about how the SJWs are taking over the media…
Plus, there was riots on the forums when this happened.
Which is a big problem. They’re not criticising the story. They’re just criticising the fact that a buff American soldier was revealed to swing the other way.
YES, it did. We learnt a lot about Soldier’s personality from the story.
Tell that to the people insisting that they just made Soldier gay and called it a day.
My God this gets exhausting so quick. There are always people who jump in these topics and try to derail them with thinly veiled bigotry.
Apparently existing is some kind of political statement.
Apparently we should just be invisible because anything that hints or mentions our sexuality is some kind of intrusion on their lives, meanwhile heterosexuality is paraded in front of us in like, every game ever and in real life 24/7 365… Like being aggressively heterosexual is an applauded personality trait but the hint of gayness is like “whoa dude you can like exist but I need to pretend you dont”
If Soldier’s lover was a woman nobody would ever mention it, even though it was brought up in a total normal way. You think Soldier is gonna sit there and give a detailed monologue about his past love life? No. Totally out of character. He’s got a pic, Ana is like “oh my its Vincent” Yet somehow people take that to mean Blizz is going “look how gay our game is! we’re so good!”
It’s just hatred in one form or another. Even LGBT people can harbour anti-LGBT sentiment, probably a byproduct of the oppression and self-loathing.
Liking men isn’t what I call going further and beyond, yeah of course the fact that he couldn’t move on was a plus to the story. But did we learn important secrets, did we learn what was the next move for ow. Would’ve been much better if Vincent moved to another branch of overwatch or moved to talon. It felt more like soldier is gay and he misses his old boyfriend and nothing more.
Cause that all what they gave us during that year. A lot of people felt like they revealed soldier as gay so the devs wouldn’t have to deal with the backlash of lack of content.
So? What’s wrong with that? Is every bit of lore supposed to be a major plot element? Damn, the devs wasted time telling us Junkrat likes bubble tea, that’s such a waste!
A combination of misplaced anger and thinly veiled hatred. The story people aren’t making balance changes.
