I’ve hit T500 with her several times over the years. The first time was season 2 of OW1. She’s my most-played DPS hero, which is why I know how to keep her from soloing everyone.
I don’t think she needed a buff, but it also won’t affect 99% of players. We’ll see more of her at high ranks, but other people shouldn’t be worried about her.
Tracer can run circles around Freja. She also is a solid pick against Sojourn. She has options to deal with any of the more powerful heroes. She is easily a top 5 DPS with her buff.
as someone that good have you ever got to t500 with widowmaker or do you think that would be harder?
also, probably now compared to back in the day when she was super widow?

Tracer was already top 3 even before the buffs. What are we talking about? #1 most picked dps in the top 500 last season.

idk but it feels like the Devs do not play the game, don’t think about how they buff/nerf and refuse to actually fix certain characters when they are a problem. They have no idea what they are doing and its worse when the communities expectations and various opinions are constantly a thing.

Down in gold you don’t even need to valk most widows, only if they’re smurfing or cheating.

Lol yes the top500 meta that doesnt effect 99% of players is a good metric. Also where are you getting that info from. Blizzard hasnt mentioned top picks in months and overbuff doesnt even update anymore.
Yes… Whatever is meta in top 500 is what the game’s meta is? That’s how it works.
Also you don’t balance a hero like tracer for the 99% of the population because 99% of the population can’t play her. It’s idiotic to balance a hero like that for bad players who will never get value out of her unless she’s moronically busted.

I don’t play very much Widow, and definitely not at that level. It would be harder for me, but I’m better with multitasking and strategy than straight aiming. I know some CoD bros, though, who can’t do anything but aim, so Widow would be easier for them.

However i am so glad youre not on the balancing team lol. Trying to balance for the top 1% is how a game dies. And meta is based on what is played for majority of players which defintely is not top500. By definition meta is the most effective strategy in a game. Whats effective at 1 level is not necessarily effective at another.
Ok you didn’t pay attention to what I said.
I said you balance heroes like TRACER for the top 1%, because the top 1% are the only people who can even effectively play the hero.
Same with widow. Same with sojourn. Etc etc.
Considering they’ve been balancing for lower elos and the game has felt like garbage because of it, I’m going to have to disagree respectfully.
Maybe if more people spent more time actually using teamwork instead of complaining in threads, Tracer wouldn’t feel as oppressive to so many. Most Tracers just don’t have the consistent capability to pressure us the way the forums want to make her out to be. Especially when a solid foundation of teamwork is applied. But a lot of people would rather run to the forums to whine about every little time they get picked on by her doing her job.

Pretty much. Tracer is really great against most isolated targets, but with a bit of teamwork, she is forced out without much fuss.

Oh ive paid full attention, but you cant make exceptions otherwise the character would be unplayable for most of the playerbase.
Also not true it has never been balanced for any specific elo, for better or worse they just go by total numbers. I promise lower elo people complain just as much that it feels terrible saying that they think the game is balanced for top500 even tho its not.
She already is. She has been for the 9 years this game has existed.
It’s how it has always worked, it’s how it works with widow too. To change that is you deciding to change something that has been established for 9 years. You would have to completely rework tracer.
You don’t see good tracer players in lower elos, because if you are a good tracer player you climb. So then there’s none of them left down there.

It doesn’t prove your point. Lower elo players have never been what tracer is targetted for.
It’s the exact same with widow. It’s heroes that only the top players find value in. They are always weaker in stats diamond and below. And usually the top heroes masters+.
It’s how it always is, it’s how it always will be. So you don’t balance high elo heroes, based around low elo players. It’s nonsensical.
