DPS queue times are just way too long, I’m constantly sitting at 15 minute + queue and I don’t even play in grandmaster or master, I’m a mid-high plat dps player, so why are queues so long? I’m typing this as I’m in a 6 minute dps queue currently, and I know I won’t find a game in a while. Blizz needs to do some sort of thing to fix this problem, because it is becoming way too difficult to play when I can basically play 2 or 3 matches an hour, instead of before I used to find games instantly and used to get 6-8 matches per hour. Sure, I get better games now and not 5 instalock dps but these queue times are killing me.
There are more people queuing for DPS than any other role. Games can only launch when enough tanks or healers are found.
Same issue in WoW. The reason you end up with better games is because you’re not stuck with people who only want to play dps and those people are forced to wait for their choice.
The only ways to avoid the long queue as DPS is to queue for that role in a premade group or play a different role.

I bought and started playing this game because of dps. I liked mccree thats why I bought this game to play mccree and dps. Playing other roles sucks and not fun. when we bought this game we idn’t know they will do this role q thing but too late now.

Time of day is also a factor. OP, you mentioned being in the queue when you posted this 30 minutes before I posted this reply. That’s about 9:15am Pacific time, on Tuesday. Everyone is at school or work. Hardly anyone plays Overwatch at this hour of the day, relative to the numbers of players in the evening or on weekend.
I don’t know for sure, but I’d bet that Tuesday morning is about the deadest time of week to play Overwatch at all. So you’re dealing with smallest possible pool of available players right now, and ALL of them want to queue up as DPS. Comp matches will take FOREVER.
If you want a shorter queue time, consider picking up a tank or a support hero during this time of day, or play something else until all the players get home from school or work in the afternoons.

Worst time to play Competitive. Just like Holidays, Weekends, and Breaks.
Not everyone and it’s the best time to play to try to rank up. Played since Open Beta and Launch of Overwatch. Best time to play Competitive is when people are at Work or School or when people are going to bed for the night.
You’ll also have good luck playing in Competitive after 9PM but before 2AM as most of the kids are getting ready or are already asleep for classes the next day. After 2AM, you’ll see a lot of international players on US servers.
For getting wins (or just better matches), yeah, maybe that’s the truth. But the OP’s thread is about queue times. I’ll rephrase my earlier comment: Far more people are at school/work on Tuesday morning than are at home playing OW on American servers. Yes, you can get a match and probably have a better time in the match, but it’s going to have a longer queue time.

This is exactly why 2-2-2 was needed. If you’ve ever stumbled your way into competitive mode I can’t even imagine how many games you’ve likely ruined.

Did you play more than 25 hours worth so far? Probably got your money’s worth.
Go play QP Classic. You can have your fast queues and 4-5 DPS games.
You could always pick up a tank or support… Get super fast queues, and learn more about the game. Win - Win, you help other DPS players have a faster queue too since you’re not competing with them for the spots…

sadly, it has been proven that qp classic is not equivalent to Freedom Queue qp, and further, there is no Freedom Queue competitive
as such, statements like the above fall flat
waited 15 minutes, finally matched until a player left, game got cancelled, back into queue, 15 more minutes, another leaver… this is a joke.

Then what do you want? Find an alternative. Personally I think they should have a training range you can go into while queueing. The times will never get lower so long as DPS is the favorite role for most.

By ruined I mean lost. Because it’s competitive mode and games aren’t supposed to be lost.
And this attitude is all over these forums. “I bought this game because [insert hero] looked cool! And I only want to play them! I paid money too! I don’t care about counters or my teammates!”
