At least his ult is channeled, blockable, edible (D.Va), deflectable, requires line of sight, and doesn’t kill multiple people at the exact same time.

I agree with you, a resource meter that allows you to build up res would be pretty cool. I would personally vouch to have it exclusively as her ultimate (no silly e move cooldowns) and require that one builds res charges after healing for a certain amount without dying (as in if they heal 1500 health they earn a res).
They can spend their earned resses anytime they wish, but as soon as they die, they lose all the progress and have to start from the beginning. The only time they get to use their earned resses is if they get enough ult charge, which means that their resses only get locked in after her ult is ready.
I suppose to be less harsh, one could just have it so the resses you earn are yours and still are saved even when you die, but the whole point is that those resses can ONLY be used in your ult, and can ONLY be done one at a time (not one huge res like mass res) to prevent random hide and seek behavior. I think that either way way, this will encourage the strategy and mind games mercy players had stripped from them back in 1.0.

Oh right, the enemy team just couldn’t save a deadeye/hack/emp/grav/stun to kill mercy before she ulted… or to team wipe them all if she managed to rez.
If you let a wild Mercy roam around undisturbed while you party on the payload you totally deserve that 5-men rez
My favourite Old Mercy moment was killing her first, but killing her too early, so by the time we cleaned up her team she was able to fly out of spawn (or if you were really lucky you were on Gibraltar and she didn’t even need to do this) and rez her entire team on point while the two of us that were left alive were basically hapless to stop her.
Definitely a fun and engaging mechanic.
Reverting Mercy to her original form means that teams need to be more methodical with how and when to use their big team wipe combos. As the game stands right now, nothing is really stopping graviton surge and dragonstrike because Hanzo is almost always being damage boosted, nullifying any healing ability that can protect those caught in the crossfire.

And how exactly is that related to you ranting about how “hard” it is to counter her? Because, as you said, mass rez was removed not because it was unbalanced but because some special snowflakes felt it was disheartening to see their hard earned kills magically nullified
yes, revert her! after all, with these new hereos, there are so many ults that can kill 3 times the whole team, so if the enemy team, can save their ult, they can kill the team 2 times, even with the mass rez. we have to take the fact, the skills of the Mercy user

Yes this bc balancing current mercy is a headache and pulling mercy mains through the dirt to attempt to do it isn’t fair either.
At the same time she has some serious balance issues right now.
It’s probably better to just revert to to a state where she was balanced… And the people that played her enjoyed playing her
Even if she is reverted (which, frankly, would be an improvement over her current position although Res still needs some changes; also consider some other third Ultimate and just scrap Res and Valk altogether if absolutely needed), she still needs some other changes to increase her skill ceiling (as she is probably a bit too consistent; probably a decent E ability and a nerf to healing and damage boost) and most of the other healers need changes (in particular Ana; she just needs SO many changes such as: changes to Sleep Dart to make it more useable, give her some self-healing so she doesn’t have to keep using Biotic Grenade on herself, and some sort of mobility so she can reach sniper perches and actually be a sniper; Lucio and Moira could also use some improvements so they work outside of tight compositions and Brigitte needs Shield Bash redesigned (i.e. move away from the heavy CC that hurts slow Heroes probably more than the dive Heroes it is designed to counter) alongside a proper anti-dive Hero).
It would also be nice if this happened a bit faster as well instead of taking almost as long as the Sym redesign (and that was just the “balancing”…).
Before new mercy was created the old 60dmg ana even got some pro playtime. Now we have Moira.
I think mercy 1.0 would get plenty owl playtime against teams stacking Ultimates as a counter and with pharah but I think in current overwatch she would be much more balanced

Old Mercy was never overpowered and actually considered underpowered for a long time (after the Zen changes and before the invulnerability buff).
Ya I’m inclinded to believe that mercy would be just fine since ana isn’t as strong as she used to be and Moira got a Nerf.
