Make all non Collab shop skins except colab skins buyable with credits after 1 year. This allows people who like the skins to get them earlier with money, or people can wait a while and add it to their collection
Eh? They already kinda are in the “for you” section.
They are asking for them to be purchasable with credits, not coins. As of now, the items that cost coins always cost coins when they come back.
Not that I think blizz will ever do what the op wants, as they would lose money by doing so.
Oh, right credits. They are so useless I forgot they are still a thing.
Before could buy a base legendary skin for new heroes, and then they stopped adding those…
And they keep putting them as BP filler for some reason.
Eh, I doubt if someone refused to pay for a skin in a year that they were magically going to cough up the dough for it. If I am paying for a skin, it’s definitely on it’s first run.
Giving people free stuff actually INCREASES revenue. Especially old stuff that nobody cares about.
I think those bpass slots have another reward too. The 3 coins slows and 8 prisms slots do not.
There are certainly a ton of people who have paid for shop skins months or more than a year after they came out. Or are waiting for it to return to buy since they missed the week it was out.
I am not saying it never happens. It’s just that the VAST majority of money made is during the first encounter. That applies to a lot in the industry. Hardware, software… Gimmick products. That first wave is where the money is at.
For sure it makes more the first time. But they are likely still making a good amount of money when the popular skins come back a second time. Or when someone comes back to the game and would buy the skin. Also if people knew in a year the skins would be free, they would also be less likely to buy it when it comes out.
I doubt it. From their last earnings report, they couldn’t even sell Battle Passes.
So if we are assuming they are struggling to sell skins, why would making them free after a year even help? Why further incentivize people to not buy them.
It is difficult to explain because I do not understand any of the technical terms. It is more or less just a psychological trick to condition people into the feedback loop. It does not even need to be free skins, that’s just the example we are using because they typically use it for the anniversary. It’s why they INCREASED freemium currency. To help their results.
There is a LOT that goes into it and I am far from an expert. It basically just makes people happier and clears their indecision to purchase while also mitigating buyers remorse.
You do not have to take my word for it. Just play a few other free to play games and see how they handle it. The successful ones tend to shower you with free stuff. This game is truly one of the only exceptions.
