Less experienced players that don't understand balance

I Actually really like this post and it explains a lot of one of the main problems every human has. Empathy and self awareness at times are hard to see and use. I grew up with a rough life and past so it’s easier for me to understand where people are coming from and thoughtfully/carefully respond
If the OW community was more like this we’d probably be 10x better

Wow, I had no idea that so many people would take the word “casual” as a direct attack on their person. It’s a game guys. I made a thread about the game and the people playing it. Calm down and remember how irrelevant all of this is in the grand scheme of things.

whoops i think i replied to the wrong thing😅

Depends on the hero. Teamwork IS the key in this game, whether you realize that or not.

A hero being overpowered on an individual level is a different topic.

Im sorry Hugh but your analogy about the yellow belt vs black belt scenario is just plain bad. Here is why. The said yellow belt could very well be a black belt in a completely different art and therefore could possibly completely wreck the said black belt. Fact is this, Don’t ever judge someone’s knowledge just because they aren’t in the same tier, some of us have really crappy pc’s which prohibit them from climbing, or maybe they just prefer playing in lower ranks because that is where their friends play. Believe it or not, that’s your right, but you are coming off with a holier than thou attitude and you really have nothing to merit it. As I said before someone in a lower rank could have just as much game time or more game time than you, that does not always translate the fact that they do not understand the mechanics of the game. In essence we all still play the same game, or did you manage to forget that somewhere in this discussion?

Im not niche picking arguments. Im trying to demonstrate that blanket judgements based on rank are ultimately a bad way to approach balance discussion.

If someone in bronze is like “DERP NERF GENJI CAUSE HE OP! NERF NERF NERF! HE KILL ME WITH ULT! THTAS BS!”, you know, the empty arguments that have no real substance, yeah, dismissing em is probably the way to go.

But if there are clear well thought out reasons for a thing, that have explaination and sourcing outside of just anecdotes, going in and saying “Dur Hur, ur bronze, git gud!” is stupid.

And to be clear, there are far more dumb arguments of the “Nerf this cause OP!!!” variety at the bottom due to lack of skill/experiance than at the top. But there are still some bad arguments comign from the top because “Im Masters, I know what Im talking about!!!” rather than a well thought out points. If we want balance, it hurts the game to discredit all arguments from teh bottom, and accept all from teh top. It is in better service to get a gist of a persons Points individually, and then either ignore it, or make a rebuttal, or agree.

there is a difference between being professional and non-casual
…i h8 2 bre4k it to you m8 l44t and other cancer typing

Here we go again. Maybe I need to spell this out, because people want to niche pick every little thing that I say, then go off on tangents about how I’m on my high horse.

I made an analogy that was completely reasonable, and you turned it into a “what if this, what if that” scenario. It’s HYPOTHETICALLY only about karate. We’re not getting technical about it, it was a simple analogy that’s easy to understand, and you’re going to sit here, make a conspiracy of it, and tell me how bad it is.

Lastly, I’m not talking about people with a bad setup, I’m talking about people who are in the rank they are in, because they perform that way.

Give me a break.

it’s an analogy you made, so the what if is completely valid, the same way the applied logic about this discussion is completely valid, you missed the whole point of what I told you because you are obviously self righteous. I’m done with the discussion I said what I had to say and I obviously struck a nerve because you’re defending yourself when I clearly proved a point, have a nice day

I’m not saying I’m perfect, or anyone in the high ranks are perfect either. AGAIN, here we go, you’re making assumptions and not taking what I say at face value. Your first example of the stereotypical bronze is the player type I’ve been talking about this entire time. Yet you want to turn this into some kind of war between high ranks and low ranks. It’s just blunt advice for those players. Nothing more.

tl;dr
People can play the game casually and still understand the way the game works. You don’t need to call yourself a “pro gamer” in order to understand it.

Being this proud of your rank in a freaking video game is pathetic. Try achieving something which actually matters instead.

Oh, I completely agree with what you’re saying in terms of “they have no counter.” A lot of people seem to not get that sometimes your best counter IS skill. It should take skill to take down someone who takes skill, if that makes sense.

But yeah, my only issue was the elitist vibes you were giving off.

And I love the taste of garlic, but I hate garlic breath with a passion.

(Edit: it seems like whenever I’m on the forums, my phone’s autocorrect really enjoys screwing my words up.)

You know who understands the game better than those who play a couple hours a week? Those who play it for 12 hours a day to the point of breaking the game wide open.

No it’s not Lol. You want to make it into this.

“so there’s a yellow belt vs. a black belt, BUT the yellow belt is secretly a krav maga BJJ expert who’s also a navy seal with 300 confirmed kills etc.”

Take it at face value. You willingly joined the discussion, and I responded to you quite mutually. My nerves are in tact, you however challenged me to a battle of wits unarmed, you got dismantled, and now you’re “done here, because…”

bye!

A self-given title is a self-given title. People aren’t stupid by default, so don’t act like they are.

Who said I’m proud of anything Overwatch related? It’s just fun crap I do in my spare time.

Very much agree with the OP. And I’m not even high rank.

That’s such a dumb dumb argument/statement.

Like it or not, being better than almost everyone in the world is an achievement. It means something. If you were #1 in the world, I can promise you’d be pretty happy and proud of it.

Get out of here with that “it’s pathetic, do something real” b.s.

But your statement says that because i am bronze or something ( dont play comp ). I do not know what I am talking about, and have no clue how to play properly.
Well with I believe over 600 hrs on OW, I so know the game very well.
