Legendary Difficulty for Story Missions

Funnily enough, Brig’s buffed ult didn’t carry over on the third mission … which makes it a pain to play as Brig.

I haven’t had time to try missions in Legendary yet (I’ll do it tomorrow, though Sunday is the one day you don’t want to play Overwatch on because of the toxicity).

What I can say is that first mission is pretty easy in Expert. The second one can be pretty hard if you have players that can’t work together and last mission was okayish.

I expect the second mission to be really hard in Legendary. Baptiste is the go-to support in my opinion. Mei has a lot of utility and Echo copying a tank’s ult is pretty efficient.

Can’t wait to try those and lose my nerves with random teammates in Legendary haha !

Edit : I had an Echo player that carried us pretty hard on the second mission in Expert (I failed many times with random horrible players). At first, I was like "I play Baptiste and I have an Echo, it’s going to be a nightmare, and fortunately it was a pretty smart player that didn’t fly all over the place with Echo and stood on the ground most of the time while doing crazy damage. I think it was a stack of 2 or 3.

Getting stacks or creating your own stacks of good players will be the best way to accomplish Legendary.

I’m just waiting for All heroes enabled. So my team can have actual good characters instead of Lucio Healer

I think that’s easy to say if you had time to play it the day it came out. We’re on day 2 and I’m hitting a brick wall in PC pool on this difficulty. I’ve made it all the way to the train station and it falls apart (semi-good group) OR i Just can’t get past the ferry section b/c we die on that mad swarm that hits the ferry right before we’re supposed to finish that phase. I also keep getting people who INSIST on not picking Mercy or Rein in this mode and want to play Lucio or Dva. I’m usually the Mei. I also tried it with bots but they just stand there and do nothing.

I’m with the crowd right now that is TIRED of them doing these events and NOT allowing people to just play whatever hero they want. I really want to understand the logic behind a forced hero pool.

Farthest I’ve gotten is when you have to defend two omnics (we only lost because our soj brainfarted). Best pick is too insta lock Winston, you can carry some of the hardest sections where people usually f up, like booping artillary and booping the semi boss when defending Claire. If you get matched with Pharah/Tracer/McCree/Any tank that isn’t winston (thats why I play him)/Mercy, just dodge, it isn’t worth the headache of trying to carry a guaranteed L.

As of Day 2, best comp I’ve had is with Winston Echo Brig. Brig can clutch if 2 people get tapped (though not consistently), Echo I am not sure how confident I am with, but I’ve seen some clutch saves using Duplicate.

As for supports, I think Brig is the best for survival, bap can’t move around that well, and lucio doesn’t do enough healing. I don’t insta dodge with them because I’ve seen some potential, but I’ve made it farther with Brigs.

i had taht happen too i ended up leaving the match because we lost and I just noped out of there.

those are some solid tips…we’ll see. I got legendary rio on the first day (and I did every difficulty before it to kinda “train”) but yes…i’m getting c-blocked on Toronto Expert,.

Ok so I’ve officially beaten Liberation on legendary, and yeah Brigitte is 100% the pick. You need her to save pretty much everyone from stalkers. My comp was again Winston, Echo Brig and you need to play safe 99% of the time, especially during the final stretch. Everyone needs to play in a medium to close range to stay within heals and range of Brigs whipshot.

Trust me, if you get decent players who pick the right hero (easily the hardest boss in the game), it’s almost comical how easy it felt on our final run. Now time to get humbled by the final mission.

Mood but tbf he makes up for that in utility. For the Toronto Mission, booping off slicers is honestly godsent.

The difficulty is really weird. Rio is kinda okayish and feels like old Archives Legendary (maybe easier). It took me 6-7 tries.

Toronto is the hardest PVE mission I have faced on Overwatch in Legendary, it took me 1 day and a half to pass it.
I didn’t count how many tries but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were more than 100 tries (it was hard to make a premade out of this mission - too many bad players). I eventually found good guys to achieve it with.

Ironclad is the easiest to me. I did the Legendary in only two tries but there was a Rein carrier that booped all the bosses to the void. It helped a great deal.

I think they’re going to nerf Toronto at some point. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

Edit : I was wrong in my previous post, Baptiste is clearly not the go-to support for Legendary, it’s Lucio all along.

I think there can be many different team compositions but Winston, Echo, Lucio and Sojourn seems the safest. I played as Lucio most of the time but I found another Lucio player then I went Echo and copied him as much as possible (booping is key). That’s the team comp I beat the challenge with.

We beat it with DVA Pharah Mercy.
Pharah is especially good because her normal rockets boop/stun enemies. So if you shoot slicers on the bridge they can’t shoot and the team can clear the rest of the (shooting) bots first. Her AOE Damage also breaks robot parts easily.
On Train station pharah/mercy can play on the lamps on top of the map, making them basically invulnerable.

DVA does a lot of damage, her bomb can clear lots of enemies fast, she has a massive armor pool (trust, armor is super viable in this mode). She also has high mobility, which is good in train station.

Both DVA Pharah can boop.

Mercy insta rez was super valuable because in high pressure situations one person often goes down, resulting in a team wipe. You can insta rez and negate that mistake. Also mercy provides more and faster healing than the rest of the characters, especially to pharah.

I beat the Rio story mission on Legendary. Toronto and Gothenburg I don’t even want to attempt after seeing Top 500 4-stacks struggle for hours. By comparison, from OW1 Archives Uprising was the only one I managed to beat on Legendary. Though I admittedly tried the other two less, similar to Toronto and Gothenburg.

I have not attempted Underworld on Legendary yet, but did beat Expert.

That’s pretty solid.

You relied on one person only to CC the stalker, and boop the mind controllers, wp !

I only tried Mercy once and didn’t really give it another shot. I mostly tried with Lucio, Sojourn and Echo (I don’t play tank that much). I was on Echo when we beat it.

Naah dva boosters and pharah can boop the stalker/mind thingys. So it wasn’t that hard. DVAs cooldown is quite short too.

Also you do not require boops for mind guys, just shoot their weakpoint. At one point when it got close mercy pulled out the pistol and got him off :stuck_out_tongue:

While i get that lucio boop can get off stalkers and he is strong at the beginning, he has way too little heals/damage later, when there is no environmental pit.

BUT that’s the beauty of it  there are so many ways to play the game!

It´s for people, who have friends and work together. I´ve seen streamers do it with their premade group. It literaly have to be people, who communicate and work together.
