Simply pointing out that it’s quite odd that the lowest win rate support is getting nerfed instead of the highest win rate supports (Moira and mercy)

I will take having to fight kirkio over mercy any day.
The mercy situation has become so ridiculous and out of hand that nobody is taking this game seriously anymore even as a casual game if you can get value doing nothing.
I main kiriko and mercy and even I admit the Kiri nerfs are justified (albeit annoying, the swift step more than anything)…

Mercy shot to the top of Masters over the course of the past month. Ever wondered why?
Can we stop using winrate? It means absolutely NOTHING. There are so many variables that go into a hero’s winrate to the point that you simply cannot use it.
Pickrate is a much more reliable stat and shows a hero’s power level. Ana has one of the lowest winrates, are you saying she is weak? Brig and Illari have the highest winrates, are they BROKEN now? No, so please shutup and stop using winrate to justify any argument.
And as for pickrates, Mercy’s (although generally quite high anyway) has only shot up because of Pink Mercy this month. So we can’t really use it to justify any arguments right now.

And no, Mercy’s pickrate was NOT higher than Ana’s in Masters or GM until Pink Mercy released. It is only this week that it has surpassed Ana’s.
Eh? Doubtful, Mercy has the highest pickrate in Masters over the last three months.
People aren’t playing her IN MASTERS just because of a skin.
She should have been nerfed harder literally the worst character ever added to the game. Instead of them nerfing the cleanse itself remove the dumb intangibility from suzu and people would be fine with it the fact you burst heal for 120 then also no clip through walls on a 8 second cd great dmg that she can just spam doesn’t require mechanical healing and has the option to deny every ult besides shatter now.
I checked Overbuff’s stats for This Month and I’m not seeing that?
If it’s All Game Modes and All Skill Tiers, Mercy has the 5th highest win rate behind Brigitte, Lucio, Zenyatta, and Illari. For Quickplay she’s 6th, same order but also beaten by Moira. For Competitive she’s 2nd, beaten by Illari.
For All/Quickplay/Competitive, she’s:
4th/4th/2nd in Bronze
4th/4th/2nd in Silver
4th/4th/3rd in Gold (I believe Gold is about a third of the playerbase as well, if I’m not mistaken.)
6th/6th/2nd in Platinum
4th/4th/3rd in Diamond
4th/4th/1st in Master
4th/4th/5th in Grandmaster.
I feel like more players play Quickplay than Comp, which to me seems to show that she’s middling/uppermiddling for most people. Not the worst, but not the highest win rates. Also, according to the Devs the Overbuff data is less reliable at the upper ends (which I’d assume to be Master/Grandmaster) since there’s not as much data.
Either way, Mercy isn’t the highest up to GM: that changes a bit: Lucio and Brigitte in Bronze, Brigitte and Zenyatta in Silver, Brigitte and Illari in Gold and Platinum, Brigitte and Zenyatta in Diamond, Brigitte and Mercy in Master, and Brigitte and Baptiste in Grandmaster. Mercy only has the highest win rate amongst Supports in exactly Competitive Master, which is one of the categories the data is less reliable at. And Moira never has the highest win rate.
Also, while Kiriko isn’t doing great, she’s not the lowest win rate Support either. Again, for All/QP/Comp, she’s:
8th/7th/8th for All
9th/9th/4th for Bronze
8th/8th/7th for Silver
8th/8th/8th for Gold
7th/7th/8th for Platinum
9th/9th/10th for Diamond
9th/9th/7th for Master
9th/8th/8th for Grandmaster
Low for sure, don’t get me wrong. But Lifeweaver is lower in literally every category other than Competitive Diamond.
This isn’t to say Kiriko’s doing great or that she deserved a nerf. Just to point out that Mercy and Moira aren’t walking around with the highest win rates for “99% of the player base,” or that Kiriko is the lowest win rate Support like you claimed.
Is nerfing a Support that’s constantly hovering near the bottom a strange move? Of course it is, it’s like when they nerfed Junkrat near the beginning of OW2 when Sojourn was dominating every match. But you can make that point without hyperbole: Kiriko isn’t the lowest win rate Support, and Mercy and Moira aren’t the highest win rate Supports.
Winrate only matters when compared to heroes with similar pickrates. In general, you look at pickrate first. Then you maybe compare winrate if pickrates are the same.
