it depends, i am required to rotate accounts based on false reports accrued for playing unpopular heros in order to avoid sanction

however all of my accounts are within 100 Sr of each other meaning i consistently play at the same rank no matter which i play on

Do Blizzard tell you what you get banned for? Specifically that is.

Nope, they refuse to divulge anything and seeing as sanctions are automated it is not them handing out the sanctions in the first place

so in order to avoid the system entirely and side step the impossible to deal with customer service staff it is easier just to rotate accounts so the reports decline over time

I suppose that is fair enough. Could lead to some taking vindictive action against someone if they know why they got banned.

If you are getting that many reports, how can you be sure it is the hero pick?

I have seen from time to time people complaining about picks. But I doubt that would happen enough to get you actioned. 100% you will have been reported a couple of times. But I guess they must have a bigger reason.

Isn’t it all volume based?

i can be sure its the hero picks by the bile spouted at me in chat when things aren’t going perfectly

deny it all you wish but you know exactly how this community is regarding certain ā€œTrashā€ heros, of which are my favorites

Yes its volume based, it automatically triggers once a certain volume is reached, however, those reports are subtracted over time

in essence it punishes you the more you play considering the more you play the more false reports you will accrue

so rotating accounts allows those false reports to fade

Yeah, people type a lot on nonsense. Rarely follow up on it though.

I am not denying it, I am just curious as to how it works/how you’d know.

In theory you are right that could punish you for playing more, but only if you are following a pattern of behaviour.

Picking a hero is one thing. Picking and not contributing is another.

Hypothetically speaking, if someone feels like you are not doing enough surely by definition they can have some concerns that you are possibly being disruptive?

i know via experience and experimentation

picking a hero and trying my best is all i can do regardless of result

if someone feels im not doing enough, it is their problem not mine

if they have concerns, sure, ask me, i will tell them i am trying my best

they have no right to bully me off of whatever hero i want to play regardless of if that hero is optimum or not… but unfortunately due to the nature of the automated system, and this communities attitude, and blizzards customer service teams unwillingness to do anything but uphold sanctions regardless of context or reasons why they were actioned i have little recourse but to do what i do

I am not sure reporting someone constitutes bullying.

If you are not sure of someones game play, chat or whatever, you can report. That is why the system is there.

If it is volume based, then logically speaking it would take a consistent pattern of behaviour to get enough reports, and if you are getting that many reports something is either up with what you are doing, or the system is totally unfit for purpose.

Doing so with the intent to get their account suspended is bullying

sure, the problem is that it is automated, a system like this should never be automated, especially considering blizzards contemptible and compunctious customer service staff

i play heros like bastion in most situations, because i like the hero, that is enough reason for this community to report me and as i play alot, that is alot of reports

so yes, the system is totally unfit for purpose

Well in theory isn’t that the baseline intent of every report. You either want that person gone, or for Blizzard to check something. Just my opinion, not bullying to me.

I like Bastion too. Whipped him out the other day and hard carried. It was one of those games where they bring him out first so you swap in retaliation (classic DPS ego duel tbf). 62 elims. Nice.

Honestly. I don’t think a volume based system is the best way to do it (I’d personally prefer a peer review system but that is another discussion). Buuuuut volume based is a cheap way to dilute the effect of false reporting.

Yes you will get some, but you be constantly getting them. Unless you are a mildly irritating person in game. Then it might be possible to get a lot of slightly weaker reports.

How are you not aware about what you get banned/suspended for? You receive an email when it happens

I was told the email was vague and just gave ā€œabusive chatā€ or ā€œgameplay sabotageā€ not an actual reason. Is that the case?

But unfortunately they don’t check anything, the system is automated, and the customer service staff always uphold the decision of the system unless you’re a popular streamer or a pro

but it doesn’t in this community

or play bastion and not hard carrying

Never have received an email about it

But if the system is automated you would have received an email by now

Do they warn you in game before any action is taken?

I would have to play games with you to really make a judgement, or watch more. (we won’t comment on that one game because that was VERY reportable).

But I doubt your hero pick is enough reason to be reported in volume.

I wouldn’t have a clue cause I never been in trouble. But as I’m aware of in terms of research yes they do unless your cheating then I’m sure they just ban you on the spot.

Abusive/toxic chat is handled by human support not automated this way already confirmed with Jeff Kaplan.

Ah. Fair enough. I am in the same boat. Not aware I’ve ever been reported. Or at least no one has ever complained to or about me in game.

you would think so but nope… no idea why

once i had a orange screen pop up saying that ā€œMy behavior has been reported as gameplay sabotageā€ā€¦ and yeah, i play bastion and the kinda stuff my team mates will say in chat ā€œReport bastion for sabotageā€ simply because im playing bastion and refusing to switch (which is my prerogative as a player) kinda answers the question

but haven’t received that in a long time

the last sanction just happened after a match ended for no discernible reason

Doubt it all you like, its still true

Then he’s, lying, its automated… even went through a stint where i turned off all of the chat, spoke to no one, responded to no one, and got sanctioned for ā€œAbusive chatā€, when i appealed i was told by the customer service staff and i quote ā€œNot communicating in a team based game can be considered Abusive chatā€ no word of a lie
