Junkrat and Torb - 0.0% Pickrate in OWL

Junkrat feels TERRIBLE to play since the projectile size nerf.

There are so many situations where I’ve fired a full clip into a team huddled behind a shield, and my bombs phase through everyone.

Your favorite playstyle is a miniscule CC on Junk’s primary?

Nothing will make you happy. Life sucks then you die. Have it your way.

Correct. There will always be a meta. However, this is a meta that favors Junk. However, his inconsistencies are too high that they literally hold him back.

OWL is a terrible measure of what’s viable on the ladder.

They are glorified because people are celebrity worshippers and want to put them on a pedestal.

I don’t really care about OWL. Never watched it. Give zero f****s about it. If I want to learn something, I can learn from a GM.

Like, most people will never be in OWL. The ladder will always be the majority. Who cares if 0.00001% of players don’t use certain characters? Really. This says nothing.

It does not favour Junkrat at all though. On ladder Sigma/Orisa is too much shield even for Junk, you have to get around the shields, you literally can’t break them in time. And even with one shield, spamming into a shield only gets you so far, you need to get kills and there are better options than him in this meta, like Hanzo Mei or Reaper.

And in OWL, teams generally don’t pick counter-comps. They’ve all practised the meta, which right now is Orisa/Mei and pals. Teams aren’t going to practice a Junkrat comp to counter that, because then they don’t have the time to also practice the comps that are strong in their own right.

My favorite playstyle was ricochets and trick shots.

You know…the one they removed entirely.

I mean yeah I guess you could call them celebrities but they arent in the OWL for no reason. You even just admitted you dont watch owl so why should I take your opinion on it seriously. This is all a very casual mindset which is fine but dont go trying to talk about game balance with it.

Thing is, with the general casual hero design Overwatch has you either balance most heroes for the majority of the playerbase (let’s say plat-dia) or you balance them for the 0.0001% and it will be a great show and most of the players will turn away from the game because of how many oppressive/unfun heroes there are.

Balancing for low ranks doesnt even exist. They’ll never play the game right or ever even identify who is really broken. People in lower ranks think reaper has been broken for ages but a solo reaper is very easy to counter. Its a good thing the game has already been balanced around pro play for ages.

And what the fork do I have to do with that?!?

I believe I have seen Junkrat a few times on Anubis defense since role-queue OWL… Not sure about torb since I only watch a match highlights video here and there

  • Reduce the spread on Torbjörn’s Secondary Fire by 10%

  • Reduce the Deployment Time on his turret by 15%

You’re telling me that you want to take even more things away from Junkrat. That he’s not allowed to have anything at this point, in essence.

I mean, how about we get rid of the trap root while we’re at it? It’s a CC.

And the mine knockback? Also a CC.

I get that you don’t like CC, but the removal has to stop somewhere and IMO it’s already gone way too far where Junkrat is concerned.

I wouldn’t mind trading CC for CONSISTENCY:

  • Mine now does 90 flat damage
  • 120 flat damage on ground
  • Mine know has knockback falloff instead of damage falloff

Maybe for trap:

  • Stun lasts 2 seconds instead of 3
  • Now has 2 traps

The buff I want.

  • Upgrade the hardware and put the physics engine on the same 60-ticks per second rate the servers are (this fixes the phasing grenades problem).
  • Fix grenades once and for all.
    • Reduce grenade [impact] radius even more from 0.2r to 0.15r.
    • Add a grenade detonation radius of 0.3r.
    • If a grenade overlaps a target with the detonation radius, the grenade explodes for explosion damage. The grenade projectile will continue on it’s path for one additional frame.
    • Grenades will only deal impact damage if in the detonation frame, or the following frame, the impact radius overlaps a target hit by the explosion.
    • Impact radius turns off when a grenade touches the floor, and the grenade can no longer deal impact damage.

His alternate fire should be redirecting the turrets fire, not the rivet primary.

I’ll stop in his primary. His cooldowns are fine. Don’t give me the slippery slope fallacy.

His primary fire CC serves no gameplay purpose and is not attached to any CD. Same goes for other heroes with similar CCs, like Rein’s hammer swing.

Whatever you may think of Junk’s projectile changes, I have no horse in that race.

Reduce Junkrat’s grenades back to 120 against heroes.
Increase his grenade damage against shields to 150.

In other words, make him even worse

And Jeff straight-up said during the game’s development pre-launvh that they didn’t want to restrict ammo and put ammo boxes like in TF2 because it made fights too restrictive, so it’s incredibly unlikely they’re gonna be doing this after all these years
