well jeez I legitimately had no idea they were that easy during those times…

But obviously we’re way past that and now theyre a lot more balanced. Its just that during their first months before they received any nerfs, thats how broken they were lol. They were essentially must picks and no other character in history produced that huge of a feat when they were meta. But yeah, those were… some fun times during their times… heh…

Could some1 tell me the number of the patch? In my client the last patch notes are still the ones from June 22. I play in SA.

Let’s be honest.
It was already too easy to snipe & 1-clip enemies from across the map with all hitscan heroes.

It made no sense for every type of hitscan gun to be prominent at sniping distances. This change simply readjusted all the hitscans that could 1-clip, accordingly to the originally perceived range, by the community, in which they are supposed to be good at.

But I gotta say. The Bastion buff, while it may be small, it is really helpful with making shots count at long distances, compared to before. It makes it a little more worth shooting in Recon mode, instead of only Sentry mode.

Everyone is really sleeping on the Bastion pick, with this buff in play.

You mean the thing most DPS heroes can do?

IDK, man. That sounds more like an issue on focusing & shooting the tire, instead of the tire being able to kill most heroes.
With how low the hp is for the tire, even a torb turret or sym turrets, or even Soldier’s ult could take it out, if you need help taking out the tire alone.

If you don’t see any nade spam or junkrat at all it’s a dead giveaway he’s on a flank for his ult. Spread out and shoot the tire. It only has 100 hp…

They are nerfing hitscans because they are completely busted. Finally they are nerfing them. It should have been years ago.

shoot it then :eyes:

and what about the case there are 2 of these in the same team? if one locked brig, what did the other do?
edit: or even worse…more than 2 because RQ was not a thing.

As a support main who never plays dps… even I think this patch was not necessary. I feel like Blizz just wants to keep shifting power so that players upset about things for long enough feel enticed to return and stay a while. Once all the DPS queues get low (showing that they are quitting), Blizz will nerf supports to lure them back.

So in other words if “aim” hit-scans can’t ez win its a game design problem? This is about the weirdest argument I have heard lately…

Not necessarily, but that’s where spam comes to the mix (AKA how the majority of players in console environments and low/mid ranks mainly play these heroes) which is enabled by the slow - moving projectiles of Junkrat, Pharah and Reaper especially which even in 2021 is so disproportionately powerful compared to how brainless it is that it’s disgusting how it’s still not been addressed.

Pharah isn’t the problem. Pharmercy is.

The difference is you actually have to aim with hitscan. With Junk, Spamzo and Pharah you can just spam the enemy team and get value as long as it’s in their direction.

Their QA/QC team lives in a perpetual beta test with live data feeds and real-time tuning. They’re always toying with numbers and rigging the contest so teams are stacked either way based on what kind of data they’re trying to test or what sort of balance breakpoints they’re trying to insight.

Psure they have 2-3 groups for qa/qc. A boomer/casual/sloth group that needs literal aim-assist and may as well be console, a pre-teen redbull addy group that worries about butt acne and finger smells between testing sessions, and something in between.

And then there are the whitelisted streamers and content creators…who will have beta keys and OW2 access 1 year before all of us.

I don’t get this hate on hitscan, you guys make it sound like it’s easy to hit a strafing target from across the map. Am I the only one trash at aiming that can’t 1 clip a target from across the map? Even pre-nerf far shots would just make them hide behind cover. Now with the nerf, heroes hanzo will just sit still and tank your shots and just spam arrows at you until one of them dinks.

Aiming is hard. I mean you could dump all your shots on enemy tanks and brag about gold damage but in reality, they are feeding enemy supports ults who lowkey have the most impactful ults in the game. Hitting shots on small strafing targets (i.e. pharmercy, echo/mercy) is hard and those damages are what matters and those already hard-to-hit shots got their effectiveness nerfed.

Anyway, I’ll accept my fate and just try to dink more. Was just a slap in the face out of nowhere.

Hitscans have been and still is really good for more than a year now

Please let’s not pretend you were aiming for anything other than the choke.

At every range widow takes 10x more skill than a hanzo arrow to get a critical head shot.

With hanzo you need to aim in the vicinity and hope it hits, with widow if you can’t aim you won’t hit.

It’s childish for hanzo to be compared to widow.

This is an objective based game. You’re supposed to be fighting on and around the objective to control it, not fragging at opposite ends of the map as though you’re on deathmatch.

Old hitscan falloff made them deal so much damage at extreme ranges that they could obliterate a team before they could get anywhere near the objective…

…Including tanks, which made playing tank and playing healer feel pointless. Why play a class dedicated to keeping your team from dying, when everyone (including you) gets instagibbed so fast that there’s nothing you could have done to save them?

The falloff revert (Overwatch started with 30% when it first came out) makes sure that teams have to actually meet up and fight on/around the objective in order to deal meaningful damage.
