I dont have an issue with GOATS really its just at the moment in the elo that I play it crops up 40% of the time and usually when you stomp the enemy so hard that they employ this trump card is a bit problematic. Ofc they will never emutale it to the extent they do in contenders but they can run it somewhat decently.
As per the dev interview OW should be about options it should never be about “I have this thing so you cannot win at all”.
GOATS being the only trump comp in ranked was not what was intended at all and thats why goats is getting nerfed because it rendered certain heroes unplayable let alone not being meta.
I am all down for breaking GOATS, OTOH its laughable that “no one below Diamond” understands or has encountered it, that is so wrong by any stretch of the imagination as to be utterly laughable…

Metas are played in many places, even below Diamond. The fact that Dive played by GMs is executed perfectly (or close to it) and the “plat” version is clunky and disorganized, it doesnt mean that it magically is not Dive.

why is it now a days that people cry for balance from a game type that can never be 100% balanced with each new hero that comes out and with time people change how they play and learn different things about it plus the additions they do…go look how people played seasons 1-4 and now you will say dam they suck even if it was gm gameplay.
look at back in the day they were no patches or balance to games and they are one of the best games of all time… look at marvel vs capcom 2 the best fighting game of all time and still being played at high level and no updates or patches or balance crap you want to talk about toxic or talking sh*t to each other go look up videos of it and youll see east coast vs west coast and how they talked and played even snk2 or even street figher II…you had people follow the best players and who they picked and what they did to get better and there combosand learn just like on ow the same applies… it looks like same characters are being picked because the best players know how to play them best so you get repeat teams just like every game before.
People in lower ranks are more likely to complain about specific heroes than not. More oft when they complain about a meta what they’re really complaining about are the heroes in that meta not a build in itself.
Generally a hero being good in a meta build-wise is also very good stand-alone wise when played against low skill players.
Also heroes “in the meta” get chosen more specifically because low skill players will perceive them as being a ticket out of their respective bracket. Subsequently they learn to play them better and in the context of population proportion are the hero they see and begin to hate.
It’s feast and famine at the low end. Rarely its a dead even fun game. Either you are trouncing your opponent or you are being trounced hard by someone. Streaks do happen and it’s here where the low skill player gets frustrated and resents a particular hero.
They tend to balance for the high end. That means often what’s good for pro play often becomes terrible at the low end. Moira for example is often used as DPS rather than heal because of her relaxed targeting. Pharah tends to run amuck simply because the skill to aim and shoot back isn’t mastered.
Often too players at the low end are frustrated by the fact that it’s near impossible to advance. The SR system tends to keep a good person down and team comps are often randomized such that it’s easy to get a player enough times not interested in winning and subsequently adding a few steps back for every one or two forward you take.
I pretty much guarantee you that at the low end Reaper will have fewer counters than not and that the number of hate spam from the low tier will definitely rise.

I play with gold/silvers, and they get pretty mad if you don’t go 2/2/2, always on defense and sometimes 3 dps/1 tank/2 heals on offense. They don’t know/don’t care about any meta. That’s in competitive. I think we all know we are getting at least 2 snipers in QP, maybe more
And yet this entire game is balanced around pro-level play. If we can’t complain about things because it doesn’t affect high level play, then we can complain about things that do.
They posted rank distribution a while ago, I doubt it’d change. Also I’ve been on the forums before there were private profiles. Almost half the people didn’t even play QP and it’d be very rare to see someone even at diamond posting. Most was bronze-gold if they played comp at all.

What I heard him say was that, people ran Dive comp- but in low ranks, not many had the coordination to handle Dive properly.
He did say “that’s not Dive”, but then went on to say that in those ranks you’d have Winstton, D.Va, and Zen, and use them as an example- and later say with Dive in those ranks “You’ve got a monkey going left and a D.Va going right, and no Discord orb on ANYONE” while chuckling.
He acknowledged the Meta exists at those tiers, but that the average experience is not a proper one.

How do I know this?
The only thing I didn’t see coming was the armor reduction. I have already told numerous times that D.Va is unbalanced and I told after the first week playing with/against Brigitte that the first thing that needs to be fixed is her ultimate. No need to mention Reaper of course.
