Javelin Spear is a better version of Accretion (Sig Rock)

Its faster, stuns, easier to hit, deals more damage, it’s basically an upgraded version that’s 2x better than Rock, change my mind.

And Hook is arguably a better version of Javelin :stuck_out_tongue:

On a mildly more serious note, Sigma’s always been the “Does a bit of just about anything the other tanks can do” Tank.

does it let you perform a oneshot combo before an opponent can react after hitting it? asking bc I haven’t played new orisa

I’ve said this before, Accretion should double as a barrier that blocks damage, that should at least get some use out of it with it’s decade long wind-up.

That would mean Sigma’d have what, 3 different tanking abilities by that point? xD

All of his barriers are pretty mediocre if we’re being honest and he’s literally a giant floating square so he needs all the help he can get.

I personally like spear a lot more than accretion too (though I believe spear can be eaten?)

Honestly, I think a lot of Sigma’s kit just feels like leftovers after the whole Mauga shift. Despite being a fun enough hero, I would love to see him get some love!

I can see an Accretion/Kinetic Grasp redesign where Sigma summons the rock wall to absorb damage and then releases that damage as a projectile all in one move.

probably yeah?

They both stun, though Sigma’s is technically a knockdown effect its the same as a stun in mechanics

Accretion deals 70 damage and can deal up to 40 damage as splash damage around it as well, Javelin deals 60

Does that really matter when a character is more than just a singular part of their kit? Sigma is much better able to protect his team compared to Orisa, Doomfist can move around the map ridiculously easier the Orisa or Sigma can, D.Va has a lot more flexibility and range with her eat compared to Sigma, does it really matter?

Fun fact, it also does more individual damage than a fully empowered Rocket Punch. The projectile spear that diesnt need empowered that can be used from safety and isnt also your life saving mobility move also does more damage than my joke glove i jave to risk my life to charge up.

well that’s true only for impact damage, but with will slam damage even an uncharged (as in not charged from powerblock) punch becomes higher damage than the javelin, not to mention the cooldown difference between them

Also doesn’t the fully empowered punch only affect stun duration? The damage increase is a static 50% as long as you blocked 90 damage with it isn’t it?

When Javelin impacts a wall it also has an additional 40 damage but the wall impact damage of doom vs orisa with charged punch is 100 for orisa 105 for doom

You actually might be right about the damage numbers, i cant find the information on metrics for beta 2. But ill still argue about the cooldown difference to be petty. Rocket Punch is also Doomfists primary mobility since slam is on a ridiculous cooldown, so consider its availability halved. Then it takes an entire second of standing still and charging so its 4 second CD is a 5 second CD thats a coin toss between fighting and movement.

all the numbers from the past betas unless otherwise mentioned are the same so i just used the patch notes

the original patch notes for the first beta had Doomfist punch at fully charged (as in the hold part not the take damage part) punch has an instant damage of 30 and wall impact damage of 40, and said that the empowered rocket punch increases it’s damage by 50% so 70 total to 105 total

Original Orisa Javelin in the first Beta had 80 damage with 40 wall impact (it was a bit insane glad they nerfed it), and in the first patch of the second Beta it’s damage got reduced from 80 to 60 and the cooldown increased from 6.5 seconds to 8 seconds

All fair points

Maybe I gotta review my numbers because my in head understanding was waaaay off.

If they revert back Accretion to do longer knockdown duration based on distance travelled then maybe it could compete with Javelin Spear.

I mean, the cast time for accretion could be decreased and stun length based on distance travelled could come back, but overall he’s fine despite this. I thought he’d be so bad in OW2, but he’s OK.

K, so when is Orisa getting a barrier and a defense matrix?

Why compare only 1 piece of an entire hero’s equipment?

Sigma’s is much easier to hit + he has a shield + he gains hp for mitigating damage + his ultimate isn’t useless

Personally, rock is easier to hit at close range because its literally a massive rock sphere compared to a narrow spear. The stun felt lower than Rock. In addition, Sigma can block damage and effects on himself while rocking someone. Meaning the counter play to kill Sigma before rock goes off to interrupt the stun in some way is harder to stop.

I just always had an easier time getting the burst kills on sigma than trying to track a skinny projectile with arc and travel time. Now, rock at mid range say 10-20m is certainly harder to aim, but at the same time its still a huge hitbox and that matters a bit more.

That’s an absurd claim, his barrier is great in the sense of how freely you can place the thing IMO as well as being all around good for playing him as a poke tank. And the succ can deny a ton of ults and give him fat health, don’t see why you’d think it’s mediocre.

Another fun fact. Orisa’s ultimate at the furthest range from the centre is more effective than Doomfist ult super close to the epicenter.
