I agree with you
And that’s what I am saying, if you wanna beat that guy, you gotta become as good/better than him
I understand the problem of smurfong and I agree that it leads to unfair matches, but if you are faced with one, the only solution is to play better than him, which is most of time impossible to do in the extreme cases of smurfing, but super doable (not a 100% chance, but a possibility) in a masters environnement.

For someone a couple hundred SR lower, that’s a difficulty. Even more so when Overwatch, a team game relies on the other 5 people to be able to stand their ground as well.
Strangely enough, people forget that.

You know what’s about to make me quit? Group matchmaking.
It is blatantly unfair that a group of 2 and 4 solos gets matched up against a 4 or 5 stack.

just played two games in a row against 5 stack alt accounts, all under level 60. 3200 games

if someone plays the game 8-10 hours a day there’s almost no way aside from luck you’re able to just ‘play better than them’ if you manage to play 1-2 hours a day.
the point stands: rather than making lower rank players have to play better than they are to stand a chance at winning, put more measures to prevent the professional adult playing in the little league.
Furthermore, ‘extreme’ smurfing isn’t really uncommon behavior. GM players love playin in platinum/diamond. They get easy wins with less than optimal comps, and they get to play with their brains off because they really are just that much better. At the cost of the other 11 players in the game.
Nevermind playstation or xbox. where smurfing is free and unlimited.

I am talking of masters vs 1 gm smurf here, not the low sr, context really helps
Lower rank smurfing is a far greater problem that needs to be addressed
I’ve been in really mid-high diamond, paired with masters players several times. almost always my upper tier matches are completely thwarted by gm smurfs that either just want to toss off and onetrick for the account or are only interested in a curbstomp.
Both come from the same general idea of “I want to play against people ranked lower than me, so I’m using an account that doesn’t reflect my skill level.” If someone uses a smurf to play in masters, do you really think that when they stop being fun they won’t start smurfing in lower ranks?

Literally in every game now. There hasn’t been a game over the past week that didn’t have 2-3 new accounts on one or both teams. Usually on one team though. With said new accounts dominating like nothing else.
I get a lot of you got money from government for the pandemic but isn’t there something better to spend it on like food , other games or just anything else rather than buy more Overwatch accounts?

I played with an actual new player on my team for the first time in a long time. the level 3’s on the opposing team used hammond rollout strats I see in diamond games. So you know. totes fair and fun for the newcomer.

Bingo! This is exactly my sentiment. When I can only play a handful of games a day, and not every day at that, it makes these smurf matches feel that much worse.
Sidenote: your name is harmicist and I’m loving it

Same in mine tbh but with a lvl 7-15 Mcree landing every headshot without missing or a widow peeking through a pixel gap across the map to get kills. Or just in a mtch then a lvl 7 Tracer crouch spamming, dodging everything and one clipping everyone using stuff you only see in Masters+ games.

Thanks! lol i snagged it early enough in ow on psn
The working person problem is real. i only get to play when im off work, and my matches feel unfair and like I really don’t stand a chance of winning unless they’re so full of themselves while they’re in your spawn, you can backcap the point.

“well you can learn from people better than you”
Yes if Jordan and a few of his NBA buddies came to the local highschool and “played” them chances are they would learn a lot… because the PROs wouldn’t be looking to stomp them for giggles.
“How do you know they are smurfs?”
Basically no one gets 3200+ under level 100. Probably 2 or 300 at this point… even harder for Tanks and Heals where raw aim isn’t going to do as much as it would for a widow or McCree.
And that is just the obvious smurfs. There are loads of them that have thrown games to derank and they never get reported because “silver border can’t be smurf”.
I can’t even imagine how bad console is at this point.

I quit these kinds of matches outside of comp, right at the start. I refuse to accept matchmaking setting me up for failure. I don’t care about the XP penalty or loss of endorsement level. We should not have to be punching bags for those laughing their butts off at stomping us out with brand new accounts. This too makes me want to stop playing. Every match has smurf, leaver, thrower, afker. It isn’t fun.

Shroud placed low plat at lvl 30ish, iirc. That’s a very very clear indicator of high plat is what people can get as in higher limit when they are legit new to the game.

Worst excuse anyone uses to justify smurfing. It makes me genuinely mad to see smurfs try to excuse their behaviour like this.
It also reminds us all how up themselves these people are. As it is, they’re always the first to spam “EZ” after stomping each game.

More and more I see smurfs in QP, the game mode where players learn their heroes, the same mode where players haven’t read the few tips the game provide.
- A brand new Soldier76 standing on open ground, not moving at all, shooting with a 10% accuracy.
- A level 3 Orisa casting a barrier up in the sky
- Rein with a nano-boost standing firm behind his shield
I could go on with plenty of funny situation, but to see smurfs destroy these players is fun 30 seconds, after that this is pure stupidity.
Nonetheless, OW doesn’t have a smurf infestation like other FPS video games, yes there’s some but much less and unfortunately FPS comes with smurfs.
I could complain about it or put 2000 hours on a single hero to counter smurfs, on a way or the other that would put me in their reality, so no thank you.
As long as role queue exists, I heavily support smurfs. Fight the system!
It absolutely is. Nobody wants to wait longer queues at their rank, so they smurf down and get faster queues. Enjoy!
