these amendments didnt warrant to re-release game as “2nd installment” or to make game f2p with current clownfest meme monetization, all of this couldve easily be done as a major update
Meh, lootboxes was too problematic for Blizz to keep for recurring revenue.
With governments stepping in and trying to regulate it, and most players already collecting most of the items, it was inevitable that lootbox monetization would never sustain a live game service.
I am saying that a live service game needs a monetization that enables the game to make money. Single pay with lootboxes would not enable OW1 to stay in development.

Also did you know that China forbids the sales of skins which is why Fortnite and I assume OW2 had their contacts terminated by netease, hopefully one day EU etc will take notice of how much companies like this are trying to milk their fans constantly for an outfit that does nothing for their gameplay
