Its not too late yet

please reconsider 5v5 - we know why you think its a shot worth trying but please listen to the tank playing community when we tell you this is not the way to go

Can the tank community at least try the thing before asking them to reconsider?

As a part time tank player, I fully support 5v5 on condition that shields are absolutely removed.

we have, just with 3 dps

None of the feedback right now is really gonna make a difference I reckon. It’s not properly informed because we haven’t seen anywhere near the true extent of the changes they’re gonna make.

Not comparable in the slightest.

they already made like 8 maps specially designed for 5v5, too little too late
saving queue times is more important than appealing to some off tanks’ caprices

I have already, back before role queue.

It was great, I was Rein, but he felt tanky. I really enjoyed it, and queued as Rein every time I played. I still got some recordings on my PS4 if you want to see.

However, I’m afraid that they won’t keep the tanks tanky to facilitate only having one. Based on what they freely showed themselves, the tanks sucked.

This is important because, while OW2 is a ways off and there’s still a lot of balance changes coming, they were confidant in the balance enough to say “Alright everyone, what do you think!”; they thought it looked good. On those conditions, I can freely say that it didn’t look good to me.

TBH, the tanks in 5 v 5 was the only thing that didn’t look good. The maps looked great, Lucio’s new map is probably my favorite. I liked the mode with the pushing robot. I liked the developer commentary (I had to pause the stream and laugh when the guy said “Oh, that works out great because I wasn’t talking to you!”), but the tanks didn’t look good.

Oh, and I like some of the redesigned characters. I don’t like how Rein looks, but I like how Reaper looks like he’s wearing an armored trench coat sorta.

if you don’t give a reason we can just go back and forth

I’m a tank player and 5v5 is the way to go.

Parts of the “tank community” would rather speak for themselves, thank you.

I don’t know why everyone is so dismissive of tank player’s opinions. We’ve had 5 years of experience playing Overwatch to know what does and doesn’t feel good. Knowing the ins and outs of the role is what makes you a proficient tank player and allows you to climb.

Blind faith in Blizzard is going to supersede that, particularly when they’ve been so bad at tank player experience in the past and the reasons for the change are primarily motivated by non-game factors like queue times.

Some tank players prefer this. Not quite sure why as they never explain why it is their preference, but their opinion matters too. It is equally useless!

Shields can be remove or at least limited to 1 per team, you don’t need to gut the entire role to do it.

I’m not being dismissive. I’m saying try a thing before crapping all over it. Tank mains have all this experience playing 6v6 with heroes who are balanced differently than they will be in 5v5. I understand that change is difficult, I understand it makes people uncomfortable, I get that, but just as we fear change, we also adapt to it. I think it’s worth giving it a shot. Going back to 6v6 afterwards if it turns out to be a total flop wouldn’t be that difficult, just re-balance the heroes.

I actually think there would be riots if they went back on this decision, like there are a lot of people who are staying silent or who just don’t use the forums/watch streamers to share their opinions. I have no evidence of this but I feel like there is a silent majority who want 5v5. Maybe I’m wrong.

They are improving every tank to be better for solo tanking, that is the opposite of gutting.
