I also respectfully disagree with ya, Reaper atm is not a close-ranged brawler, hes a melee range character that has no way to get to the melee range and even then its really unreasonable aiming at some1 at melee range and you miss alot of the time with him, unless you have some sort of aim-bot its just really impossible to ttrack some1 moving that fast well enough, but i digress…
20% less Spread would still mean hes a close-range character but not one that relies on randomness or has to shove his guns down peoples throats to do damage, altho… i completely agree with making Shadow Step a better ability as well since its also lacking horribly, but as i said , even with a better Shadow Step as an ambush tool, he would still be way too unreasonable and a spread reduction or just make his bodyshots better into armor is necessary.
Currently, Hanzo has more synergy with Zarya, and close range heroes are just difficult to support in general with the current lineup of tanks and supports. IMO, while it would be fun to buff Reaper into relevance, you could also make a few tanks and supports specifically to make close-range heroes better and that could potentially fix all of his problems (or even break him to the point that he needed nerfs without changing him directly).
I had a similiar idea, w8 i have it here on the profile. New Wraith Form resource :
So it probably should still last 3 seconds, still cancellable, same speed, the resource bar does not regenerate for 1 second after canceled, it also goes on a 1 second cooldown, so you cant just keep going in and out of it unpunished, since its probably way more powerful than the current iteration it takes a full 10 seconds to recharge it completely, no longer Reloads, speaking of wich, Reapers manual reload is moved to the end of the animation so that he cant keep animation-cancelling it with this Wraith Form.
So thats it, the bold text signifies what i am not too sure on how it should actually work, feedback is apreciated.
This is more on the lines of not having it up all the time but still with added flexiblity,
Reaper is fine. With his shadowstep change, he’s now extremely powerful in the right hands. He just takes skill to use. Reaper can take a duel against every other hero in the game due to the combination of self-invulnerability, self-healing and extreme burst damage output.
The reason that Reaper feels weak is a combination of his short range and impatient players. You can’t just run into the middle of the enemy team and expect to win. Reaper only works if you get completely behind the enemy team to pick them off one by one, or if your own team is there to support and block damage for Reaper in a team fight.
With Hanzo’s upcoming nerf and Ana’s buff, Reaper will be viable again. The stronger healing is on both sides, the more valuable Reaper is in a sustained fight on the objective. Nanoblossom is still a VERY strong combo if pulled off right, even without the speed boost.
Reaper is a rare sight, but he does exist at my rank, and he is still effective when he’s played properly. His buff made him much more consistent. Reaper and Mei working together can completely shut down the common Reinhardt/Brigitte focused team comps.
Reaper’s pick rate is only about 3.9% in Masters, but when he does show up his win rate is 52.7%, which is right in the middle of the roster. He’s fine, he’s just not popular because right now Hanzo can do his job. Once the Hanzo nerf goes through, we’ll be seeing a whole lot more Reaper+Mei and Reaper+Junkrat to keep Rein/Zarya, Hog/Winston, Triple/Quad Tank and Brigitte-based teams in check.
Reaper is capable of so much more than people realize since his new wraith form came into play. It’s really amazing what he can do with a friendly Zarya bubble or a brief distraction. The act of picking a hero doesn’t guarantee you a rank. The way you play the hero matters. Maybe Reaper isn’t for you, but I know for certain that he is a viable pick in high rank games.
A good team with any game sense whatsoever won’t let you behind the team like that. Reaper’s who play like that belong in quick play. There are opportunities to do that, but every second you’re flanking, you’re not doing damage in a team fight. You are dead weight.
Why does Reaper need all these tanks and teammates peeling for him when I can just run a hit scan and be completely fine. And do more damage.
Anything Reaper can do, a Hitscan can do better. At further range.
That’s not true at all. Reaper does about twice as much damage as Soldier/McCree once he gets into his ideal range. If you’re going to fight in a small area, Reaper can literally do the work of two damage dealers when used effectively.
And Widowmaker can get a Team Kill in less than one clip. If you want to talk min/maxes.
But in reality Reaper is going to have to wraith away before he takes so much chip damage that he becomes a useless hero.
Your Reinhardt shield will be completely destroyed before you get close enough and Reaper will be destroyed by their backline hitscans or any flankers keeping the slow, clunky, and loud Reaper in check.
And if you do get to the backline to flank and you take chip damage, then what? You have to wraith away to where exactly? You’re in Narnia. You can’t do ****. You’re dead. You’re a free kill. You’re feeding. Switch to a better hero.
The only time Reaper would ever be able to do his job, and do it very well, is if there is a Lucio on his team for a much needed speed boost so he can close gaps quickly and effectively before he is forced to wraith.
Otherwise you’re just better off playing Tracer or McCree. Do more damage, do it more effectively, and stay alive for longer.
Nope he cant do that much damage, ure going thru Wiki, speacially so when armor is involved , if somehow a Reaper got to 1meter distance to you to deal that much damage you are so out of positon and have no headset, its not even funny.
Also according to overbuff, Reapers pick-rate (this month) is 0.65% and thats biased cuz it gets past season’s pickrate, where Hanzo and Brig wasnt even in the game, 2 of his hardest counters that are overtuned, this week is 0.35% and thats on MASTER where people play badly and out of position alot of the time compared to GM where it also happens but way less often where his pickrate is 0.4/0.2% , he is HOT garbage.
