Don’t you love it when a memeber of your team leaves the match when it’s a draw after 2 rounds and now you’re forced to play at least another 2 full rounds with 5v6 (or even less v6 if there are more leavers) because the game won’t allow any replacements and still judge it as a “fair” game with the same rewards and SR-adjustments?
How the hell is that a fair competitive match?
“Oh, you’ve broken your leg? Well, you’ll still have to run with everyone at the same pace or you lose, sorry”
I agree, Although I have no clue how they’d go about fixing this issue. So annoying when you’re winning a game and someone gets disconnected and my whole team gets penalized for it. They can’t cancel the match otherwise people would leave all the time, they can’t replace the person b/c then people will complain about being thrown into unfair games and situations they didn’t have an impact on. OW comp needs a lot of work, everyone knows it.
I don’t play comp, but I dabbled in it a few days ago. Not enough matches to get a rank - but 25% of my games had a leaver. That’s too many. I didn’t know this was a thing, but it’s utter **** to play a competitive match, and be forced to have it go on and on at such a Severe disadvantage.
It’s complete crap.
Because they probably don’t wanna hang around and hope they get a win. And it’s a tie breaker round. It’s stressful. They probably wanna play the game for fun and not be stressed.
Being thrown into a middle of a match isn’t exactly fair for the backfill either.
You sir, described a game mode called QUICKPLAY.
You didn’t play enough to get a rank but you had a leaver 25% of the time? What kind of a sample size is that? For all we know you only played 4 games and had a leaver in one of them.
8 games, 2 with leavers.
Well comp is the same. Play for fun. Not to win. Rank doesn’t mean anything at the end of the day. Most people care about the comp points. Not some rank
8 games is still not enough. I have had more than 20 with about 2 leavers. If I had stopped after the second one I would also have had a 25% leaver rate.
I don’t really care what you think about my sample size though. It’s not fun to be forced to complete a losing match… especially since the matches aren’t quick. It doesn’t matter if it happens twice in 8 matches or once in 20 matches, it shouldn’t be happening at all.
The season just started. bad time to do placements. I typically find it best to wait about a week or two, and only play during school hours, or between dinner time and midnight. These time frames reduce your odds of new/kids being in your games. and don’t ever comp on the weekend unless you can full carry, and against potential smurfs/trolls.
I don’t intend to return to competitive mode though. There’s a lot of reasons for this - I won’t go into it. The mode is about as unfun to play as I thought it would be. That’s all. I’ll stick to QP.
Well why stay if the team is already losing. Those people probably leave because they know the team sucks and they save their time by leaving early and joining another game after the 3 min suspension or whatever they suspended you. So you don’t have to be humiliated or steamrolled by the enemy team
We were winning one of those two matches. Plus it’s my understanding that there’s severe penalties for leaving.
Ah. I play to win, I’m sorry you see it that way. I hope they remove golden guns in that case.
Replacing a leaver would not feel good for the person who is replacing, getting placed in the middle of a match that’s probably not going in their favor.
I think some other options would be better.
- Not allowing teammates to leave after 2 minutes.
This makes the team less inclined to give up because they’d have to play or they could risk getting a penalty.
- Give the option for the player who left to join back even after 2 minutes.
If the leaver maybe has a change of mind, they can still play. A suspension would still be given to the player AFTER the match. This could also inadvertently give people whose internet may accidentally disconnect another chance.
- (This one I’m really iffy about) Conceding
If the team really feels as if it is impossible to win they could vote to concede. The reason it could be bad is because you could lose a defense round by a landslide and give up the attack and just concede.
- Low priority queue
Players who leave matches have higher queue times (and match with other leavers? maybe not…).
I’ve just had a game where the enemy team had 5 leavers. It was literally 1v6 for 3 rounds.
And we get SR for that “skillful” play.
Alright, being thrown mid-match sucks. How about they make another lobby for nice people who want to backfill? And then they get more SR if they win and less SR-loss if they lose?
I have won plenty of games as backfill.
Besides, there are a number of ways this could be fixed, for example:
-Put a cap on the number of games you can be put into as Backfill, for example, one every 10 games can be backfill.
-Prevent very late backfill, for example, if the match has less than a minute to go or whatever.
You can’t really prevent late backfill, you can be placed in a game with 3 meters left on the payload, and you can still win during overtime.
