the problem is that we are close to release and the devs clearly haven’t locked in what they want overwatch 2 to be.
The changes have a very chaotic approach and the design seems to lack cohesion and a unifying vision.
We’ve known about role passives, one tank and less cc for a long time and when the beta dropped it felt like that was the only change they made, despite the game needing much, much more to work well as a 5v5.
instead we’re still reworking abilities, this is, like, the 4th or 5th time they messed with moira’s orbs, the third time they touch guardian angel and they still haven’t implemented many balance changes that feel obvious to everyone playing
it doesn’t give me faoth that beta 3 is gonna be any better
I think that’s a fair concern, but I think it’s also important to keep in mind that the purpose of the beta is to make a cohesive, unifying vision that feels good to play. I know it can be difficult dealing with uncertainty, especially if it’s for a game you love. Fortunately, the devs have been consistently listening to player feedback when making game changes, and I would encourage you to reach out and suggest the changes you would like to see with the game.
It’s easier to know what changes to make if you tell the devs what you don’t like and specific reasons why you don’t like it, and you could also suggest what changes would be beneficial. What would you like to see changed or added to the beta?
Well, to me it looks like they are coming up with new changes along the way. This beta is close to an end and it still takes them time to fix things.
Take Mercy’s second iteration GA/ bug for instance, JQ commanding shout, how overpowered Soujourn is rn, all the Sym changes they said were coming soon, etc.
I understand that making adjustments takes time, but communication does not.
If they manage the 3rd beta like this one, when OW2 launches it will be chaos (tho we know that’s bound to happen in one way or another)
The only thing that “angers” me is that they are trying all this things on heroes that already exist, but they are only giving us 3 new heroes on release.
… really? We really really really really need to spend time and resources in messing up with Mercy Superjump and giving Moira utility? But only THREE new heroes after THREE years? Ok dude
I think you have valid concerns as well. Do you think how they’re updating the beta would be less of an issue if they had more regular communication?
Personally, I don’t think the game will be “perfect” when it releases for early access. However, I am ok with that if they continue their promise for it to be a live service game. I am a bit worried because of the 3 year content drought, but they’ve maintained their promises that they made earlier this year, so it does give me some peace of mind.
honestly i don’t know, the problem for me is the shattered trust, so all they can do is giving me proof they are on some track, but it’s hard to qualify what would satisfy me.
a patch that isnt a headscratcher at best nor outright awful at worst would be a start
Ok, I think that’s a good way to know why you feel frustrated with the game and what can help with that frustration. Trust is a hard thing to regain, and I think it’s important to ask “how do I know if I can trust them again?”. The answer to that question isn’t always an easy thing to know, if you’re able to find it at all, but it is a place to start.
It’s always subjective to how people feel about a patch, but I think it’ll be helpful to give it some time before making a concrete decision. You can always have initial impressions, but the human brain has a tendency to like things that are familiar, even if the unfamiliar thing is better. That doesn’t mean a patch is always right, but it’s just something to think about.
But wait all the effort was put into PvE guys! We just have to wait another 6 months playing this half asss game. Come on, cut blizzard some slack I promise they won’t burn you again.
Uh, no. The equivalent would be if WoW released WoW2 with new zones, classes, and game modes, but will also later add a brand new never before seen game mode. OW2 is not stripping down everything from OW1, as per your example with WoW. They are basically just releasing “OW2,” with a promise to continue updating their game, which for some reason you call early access.
A gut feeling? They’ve done about 6 months worth of work to overwatch. lol.
I agree. I still haven’t even installed the beta, lol. At this point, I’m not even sure that I will.
And I’ve played thousands of games of OW1. It’s bad when you can’t even get a loyal player to play your free to play game.
I guess I’ll refer you to my earlier post then
I guess all games that have some (but not all) updates, are in early access? rofl. They should change the name from live service to early access service.
1.5 million viewers is a lot. It at least shows that 1.5 million people expressed interest. Whether they keep playing or not is a different story…but, that’s no small feat.
uh, no it didn’t. Actually, the video game industry was thriving during covid. That’s a job that really should’ve ALWAYS been all remote work anyways.
I think you are confusing video game development with other jobs, lol.
105 +1 upvotes (on these forums of all places). it shows just what kind of let down in their worksmanship is atm. idk what kind of internal testers they had, but this ain’t it. i paid to do their job, they took home big socal paychecks to do what exactly?
its concerning because none of it feels like it was balanced for the main story mode theyve shown either… so at what point was it ever going to work in pvp?
msm if that even will exist would have a lot of homogenization. you can invest down the light+fast skill tree to tune your tank to be more dps-ish, vice-versa tune your dps to be more support like or tankish. tune for utility and team assist vs. glass canon etc.
different balance entirely. julia humphries was in charge of that she’s one of the best in the business but she’s gone because the cosby.
Its almost like if a game company wants a good game, they should respect their non-terrible, non breastmilk stealing, non harrassing employees and hold those other ones accountable for their actions.
now, i dont know what blizzard has in store. Theres so much that doesnt pan out , between information we’ve been told. how the game was supposed to be developed, what we’ve actually been able to interact with, and VERY CLEARLY unbalanced character changes that should have been figured out -in development- .
