Alright so I understand that blizzard is trying to make the game more positive and less toxic but it’s gone to the point where even the slightest bit of toxicity gets you suspended. Is it really that much of an issue to even say that. I understand if it was something more vulgar of course, but it’s just not even possible to be even someone toxic which for me. I’m not a toxic person I just enjoy seeing toxicity in the chat, for me overwatch lost a bit of its charm because of how easily offended people get to where even be called “trash” is too much.
A wide range of players enjoy OW2, from the timid pre-teen wall fly to the trash-talking ego-maniac. Usually the chat bans fall on the latter because they cannot keep their negative banter in check. Blizz is trying to make the game more popular, but when new OW2 players are verbally bullied into leaving OW2 by the toxic crowd, Blizz’s bottom line is directly impacted. So they implemented the reporting system we see today, not only to better promote and retain new players, but to silence or kick out those players that actively drive other players away.
In a nutshell, removing toxic players benefits Blizz’s bottom line, so they are acting in their own best interest. The customer experience comes in 2nd.
I don’t mind when people call me trash because my skin is usually thick but it bothers me when others are called trash lol. I don’t mind if toxic people are banned.
If toxic community members in, for example, someone’s Twitch chat, are banned for being toxic, I think that is a positive. Removes toxicity and lets people enjoy themselves. Same principle.
Um… since when was OW charm toxicity?
OW was and still is (just to a lesser extent) a friendly game. I see people having fun and chatting it chat. Like some of my favorite memories are due to how fun/kind the community is/was.
Take the new WoW collab with the quest emotes. Its so funny to see someone get a quest and try to achive it.
OR back in the daty, say if your team left you in comp, quite often the other team would offer to let the 1 person who stayed get POTG or maybe get a achivement or something.
That is OW charm IMO, not toxicity.
But why would you want people to call teammates trash? What benefit does that bring to anyone?
Ran into that recently; my team and I were getting stomped, then, inexplicably, 4 of the other team just up and quits the match, leaving just their player running Echo.
Long story short, we gave them a free win.
You are toxic if you enjoy others being bashed, end of story.
No, not really. It’s an overreaction.
Yes, but the better way is to prevent the cause of the toxicity
Gentlemen, I like a little toxicity.
GENTLEMEN, I like a little toxicity.
I like trash talk.
I like slight jabs.
I like tea bagging.
I like voice/ emote spamming.
I like seeing someone’s reaction to their teammate, making a dumb mistake that cost the team fight.
I like seeing someone’s reaction to a teammate, missing a big play costing the game.
when seeing people get toxic and then they lose then the whole lobby dog piles on them for fun, my heart flutters.
When they win after all that toxic flaunting, it feels like they got away with murder, But makes you want to rematch and beat them all the more.
I like when someone’s called out for under performing.
I like when someone does the calling out while they’re actually the problem.
I like the jokes people come up with.
I love the mass reports that come with either being toxic or being so bad you frustrate the entire lobby.
Gentleman… I like a little toxicity
The problem here is that not many others do, you’ll have to find your ‘fix’ elsewhere I guess.
I’m so over every single thing that someone doesn’t like being called toxic or triggering. It’s the real world.
imo, it is a HUGE problem, and it has gotten worse due to f2p
Yiikeeees…
OP is a whole red flag ship
Almost every match I see a teammate flame another.
Almost every match someone from the winning team types ez.
If you kill someone, there’s a large chance they’ll take it personally and decide to hard target you the rest of the match, commonly swapping to your counter to do so. If you swap off, they’ll swap to whatever counters the new character.
If someone on a team just isn’t doing well, they’re reported for gameplay sabotage. They’re not throwing, they’re doing their best but just aren’t performing well, but it doesn’t matter, they’re getting scapegoated and reported.
Frequent stomps leads to people with huge egos that flame and are incredibly toxic to the enemy team while winning.
Repercussions for being toxic seem to be extremely rare, so nobody is afraid of being toxic.
The community has become apathetic to toxicity so it’s more rampant than it’s ever been before.
I see toxicity almost every single match, and I barely see anyone communicate for any reason outside of that. I used to see lots of stuff like “what’s ur guys favorite movie?” before the match starts, but that’s like a unicorn now.
Everyone is angry all the time, everyone hates their teammates at match start, everyone wants to make the enemy team have a horrible time and suffer.
Entire playerbase is just a bunch of angry sadistic weirdos now.
Toxicity was never a problem. The mute chat feature has existed for eons. The problem is the loud minority of players who whine about it like it’s the end of the world if they have to deal with an annoying child for 8 mins of their lives.
The only toxicity issue that should be punishable is threats. Everything else can be dealt with by the individual if they so choose.
Most people don’t even type, fewer talk. The toxicity stuff is overblown by snowflakes who have to come here to cry about it.
That is precisely my problem. I just feel bad for the people who do take it seriously and unlike the people who are like, “just grow thiccer skin, lul”; I would rather tell the toxic weirdo to enjoy the consequences of their actions. They call people snowflakes and then cry about a suspension on a free to play game. It’s just so unbelievably cringe and the only reason they have so much support is because it is really easy to be mean and see yourself in other people that are rude.
Exactly. They have fun by ruining other people’s experience, but most people have more fun when they are just cease to exist. If those people are afraid to speak their minds, it only hurts them. Nobody else.
The toxicity that exists comes from snowflakes and people who cant handle losing in the game. They are the ones ruining it for everyone. They are why no one talks in game bc their fragile insecurities are on display for everyone to see 24/7. They are the ones who will spam report you for abusive chat for saying something as basic as GG bc they cant handle that they lost a video game. I hate it here.
It becomes a problem when people refuse to use the mute tool that is available, especially when you have to MANUALLY OPT IN to even see and hear communications from teammates.
Because of this, now everybody is punished.
