Is there an LGBT male in overwatch

Because he literally carries a car motor on his back constantly and has a mechanical leg that doesn’t fully function as a real one that would throw him off balance because it’s a peg leg he put together himself?

And @junkhog, your statement comes across as very “my uncle who works at blizzard”
Every character has more to be seen, because the lore moves at a glacial pace
this just come across as desperate really, there is no spark, not where it counts, IN LORE, roadie just barely seems to TOLERATE rat at this point. In game stuff is literally just crap for the fans to consume and enjoy, it’s twinkies, or marshmallow fluff, there but not substantial.
I’d rather rat be killed off than put in a relationship with hog, because, it’s a bad relationship, and bad representation.
Hog up to now constantly calls rat an idiot and tells him to shut up, laughs in his face when he jokes that the queen fancies him. He has shown contempt for junkrat he has shown annoyance with junkrat and he has shown virtually no positive emotion directed towards him.
They work as associates, they work as friends, but it doesnt work past that.

Besides.
Rat deserves better.

To be honest, I had the same reaction as you upon seeing the post - I was preeetty gutted. I mean, if all the little easter eggs and tidbits that they’ve been dropping nearly every single event don’t actually amount to anything, that’s… a little disappointing to say the least.

So it’s fantastic to hear this!!! Gonna keep those fingers crossed!

I’ve said it elsewhere, but if you think about it Junkrat and Roadhog would be the worst representation for gay men possible out of the current character base. Unless, of course, people like the idea of a character described everywhere as a mentally disturbed freak being any part of our representation. If no one here can see the issue with that, I don’t really know what to say. Because that is a truly horrific idea if you just step back a moment and consider what it says.

Even ignoring the fact Junkrat is called a freak everywhere, that pairing being canon would only be playing into the negative stereotypes of gays as villains and insane criminals. Do we really need more of that kind of representation? Because, seriously, Junkrat is described everywhere as a mad freak. Roadhog is described as a ruthless killer. They are both terrorists with a worldwide crime spree, and their reason for that crime spree comes from a plan to blow someone up with a Trojan Horse made of stolen gold and jewels. They are villains. Junkrat is insane, Roadhog is a felon and killer. I am frankly tired as **** having only villains and insane characters as representation, especially as to have them now, in 2018, would the the LARGEST step back I can think of for the community.

I’m crossing everything I have lol I know its not much considering it’s just someone who aids in the vocal department and their opinions on the characters while taken note of arent concrete, but to be given that little nod and wink is just so nice.

Thinking about it they didnt even have to say anything about it at all but the fact they did is very telling. But again their not the writers or anything so it’s not like oh Papa J spoke to me I’m special or anything like that. It’s more of a cool guy cool guys who are just tossing a nudge nudge to a fan of the characters.

And if you cant tell who I’m talking about then I dunno what to tell you lol

Pft hahaha omg keep it classy :coffee: had me rollin though

Hiya there. Thanks for your points, though I don’t agree with all of them.

I think the main thing for me is, even though you’re right in that blizz has said that in-game stuff isn’t canon per se, I don’t think they count for NOTHING either. Even if some of the sprays, voicelines and interactions between characters are technically impossible (e.g. since characters may not have met each other in the lore yet), all of those bits of fluff are still in line with each heroes’ characters and personalities. I can’t think of any examples of in-game tidbits which completely contradict the essences of the characters as we know them in the lore.

With that in mind, if (IF) we assume that there is at least a bit of truth in in-game material (pertaining to characters’ personalities), it seems to me that roadhog and junkrat are warming up to each other. For me, it would be really weird given all the little hints and Easter eggs they’ve progressively dropped, if they were to then turn around and go ‘jk, roadhog actually still hates junkrat, sorry’. Especially since they just posted about junkrat and roadhog being best friends. I mean, you’ve said it yourself that roadhog and junkrat work as friends. I don’t see how that can be possible if there are absolutely no positive interactions between them like you also claim.

Of course, whether that is really the case or not is still all up in the air! At the end of the day, I’m not trying to say who’s right or wrong per se. We all have our own biases and projections, and these will no doubt affect the way we interpret these characters. Regardless of all of these, the only thing that determines the truth is what the writers of junkrat and roadhog ultimately intend for these characters. Til we know what exactly that is, I think it’s ok to disagree and have discussions like this. Peace

Heyyy I’d love to make my points on the matter, but it seems anyone who doesn’t agree with certain headcanons gets their posts flagged and get banned soo I’m gonna not do that.

Anyway I’d really rather Jack/Gabe be the confirmed gay relationship. It actually would explain why they each turned a blind eye to the others actions towards the end of OW.

And I’m surprised few people brought up Reinhardt. The more I watch Honor and Glory and listen to his voicelines, the more I’m kind of getting “the gay uncle” vibe from him and I love the idea.

I’m definitely with you there in that I’d want representation to be good, and that bad representation is a problem we should be aware of.

That being said though, I don’t see junkrat as merely a ‘mentally disturbed freak’ or roadhog a ‘ruthless killer’, from what we’ve been shown so far of them. It may have been how they were initially presented when the game first came out, but I don’t think they haven’t had any character development since then either.

The great thing about blizzard’s writing (slow as it is) for me is that, their characters aren’t black and white in terms of whether they are heroes or villains. I don’t think there is any character in the cast that doesn’t have any redeeming qualities whatsoever. Personally, the way I view junkrat and roadhog is that they seem to be victims of circumstance more than anything. Yeah, they’ve done some bad things. But that doesn’t necessarily make them completely bad people.

Even though junkrat’s mental faculties may not be all there, you can see from his comic that he’s seriously considered the idea of going legit - they took on a mission to rescue hostages (even though they botched it lol), and in that comic you can clearly see that junkrat cares for roadie. They even made it a point to explicitly write into the comic that the building they blew up at the end had been evacuated of people, maybe so as to not make them seem like uncaring murderers (but admittedly that’s just speculation on my part).

As for roadie, even though he was originally described as a ruthless killer, it’s evident from his comic that there’s more to him than meets the eye. We can see that he’s in deep turmoil due to the way things have turned out; he has several chances to unfeelingly murder those in his way (like the dudes who raided his farm, or the queen’s stooges), but he elects not to. We can also see that he still cares and thinks well of the character who supplies him with his hogdrogen. All in all, I don’t think roadie is a character with no moral code.

In that sense, I don’t view junkrat and roadhog as villains, and I think that they might possibly be more akin to anti-heroes. I’d wager that quite a few other people feel this way about these two too.

But yeah, that’s just my interpretation of junkrat and roadie. You’ve got your own interpretations of these two, and that’s cool and entirely valid too :). At the end of the day though, I think we can definitely agree that good representation is what we’re both after, and that it’s done right! (In Jeff we trust huehue.)

I feel like countries such as Russia wouldn’t take to kindly to that haha

I was slightly hoping for an announcement during the OWL Pride festivities but I think at this point, I don’t think I can reasonably expect any LGBT characters soon; no matter how much I want them. It doesn’t seem to be a priority for Blizz.

dont count it down and out just yet. they’ve surprised before, an event isnt always required.

The problem is that orientation reveals count under lore, and the lore reveals have slowed to a trickle. Everyone is waiting on something.

I think we would likely get another comic/trailer since the only thing they released this year was just the Retribution comic.

Which to me blows my mind, because I don’t think the comics are even produced in-house.

agreed…if there’s anything to be mad at, it’s how slow and almost unresponsive they are for any lore to be released. the lore is what keeps me here. and unless the social changes they revealed actually help, the game is just going to continue to be unplayable because of all the trolls, toxic players, and CoD fanboys who think they can call shots…

I dunno if you can get better than Roadhog.

“we” dont have a lesbian. “we” have a game where diversity was advertised. not everyone is represented by a lesbian.

So me wanting Junkrat and Roadhog to be a couple is an offensive stereotype? Your essentially saying that my marriage to my husband who is a literal 39 year old tall chubby mute is offensive and a stereotype?

What’s stereotypical about wanting two guys together? If anything making Tracer a lesbian is a stereotype as its pandering to Male gaze. Throwing in a random gay female just to shout were pro something and give the straight guys some material to work with during their spare time.

Also suggesting Glee is disgusting and offensive to me. That show was an embarrassment to not only the LGBT community as a whole but a disgrace to the human race.
