Is there a way to make the game less overstimulating?

In overwatch 1 (the better game) i could play for hours straight and still be ready for another match. Nowadays theres so much happening and going on in my screen to the point where only after 40 minutes of playing i get extremely overstimulated. It’s funny cause i dont even remember a single thing from the 4 games i played, just a blip of kings row.

Is there a graphical or config setting i can do to turn off all this visual garbage? I’m only 20 and i still feel like im too old for this.

Nope. Blizzard likes their visual garbage.

If anything, the game feels more simplified now. So simplified to the point were certain heroes feel too boring to play. Simple heroes in OW1 was still interesting to play because of how hectic the battlefield was, which gave them many options to choose from in any given moment.

These days, simple heroes suffer from lack of options in what you can do in the battlefield due to their kits limitations. Mercy comes to mind when referring to this, but as a role, tanks in general suffered the most from simplification. A lot of tanks (mainly off-tanks) felt much, much more engaging to play back in OW1.

The game has become more punishing now especially for DPS flankers. Although the recent HP changes in S9 somewhat helped with this (especially tracer and her survivability).

If there’s anything about the game that has become “harder” it would be that for me. The game becoming more punishing to mistakes. But again, with recent HP buffs, even mistakes are becoming less punishing now. On top of the game as a whole becoming less complex due to less teammates.

Tanks are still getting punished hard for simple mistakes though, despite the recent tank gigabuffs. So as usual, the tank role is still punishing and very hard to get into, especially for newer players.

If you’re referring to visual clutter regarding “overstimulation” instead of gameplay, then I would look into turning down the graphic settings which should help to tone down visual effects during battle.

If you think there is more visual clutter with 10 players you must have completely forgotten what it was like in 12 players on screen. Nothing’s changed beyond fewerplayers.

OW1 was still way better even with 12 ppl.
Blizzard added tons of visual crap with the launch of OW2 and the new heroes as if they wanted to make up for the 2 missing players and still managed to overdo it.

You now what, it must have been the 10 min+ queue times. People spent more time in the lobby than in the match back then.

Unfortunately for you all you can do is reduce visual settings.

However coming from Destiny, fighting games and Chivalry, played UT and some Tribe when i was young i find OW in the slower side of games myself.

My main issue is i cannot find how to make the objective text to not hide enemies in some cases.
