Eh, I wouldn’t want competitive players in my casual games or casual players in my ranked games. I say keep ranked and unranked queues separate.
I think he meant you could queue both with comp being the priority.
That’s what I’m saying. Either queue for competitive, or queue for casual. Queueing for both I don’t think should be allowed
To answer your question, yes. The community is being split by things like 6v6 and Stadium. I guess it’s because of these reasons and possibly more:
- The devs might be unsure what direction they want to take the game. Either that or they have a lot of ideas they have in mind about what else they could add to the game. So they keep making new modes like Stadium to test the water and see if the playerbase likes it.
- They want to listen to community feedback, and sizeable portion of the playerbase were likely asking for the return of 6v6, especially after the release of Rivals. So as a way to bring back old players and not lose them to Rivals, they decided to bring back 6v6 permanently. Albeit it’s still not the main mode since they still believe in 5v5 being overall better for the game due to small tank playerbase.
- Plus, other reason I don’t know of.
There is no doubt that the many modes are splitting the player base. I think it ruins the balance and the matchmaking because they are juggling all these modes at the same time.
Well, that’s just like… your opinion, man.
Stadium was a mistake.
Your name is Stadium?
100% agree, way too many game modes - I think stadium was a mistake, but if they insist with their ego project they should have replaced their bstard child 5v5 with it and made 6v6 the default mode with no perks.
Now with every seasonal event it’s like we have two because of stadium.
They lack focus… well except for when it comes to profits - it’s pretty clear that has been their focus since Overwatch 2 was forced upon us.
edit: somebody mentioned above that the devs don’t know which way to go, and I think thats been the case since day one - they were making one game and then were forced to make another. Now it’s like they are treading water until the servers close with the sole aim of milking skin money.
I guess “the minority that isn’t important in Democracy Overwatch” (according to the forum) and that boycotts Map bans in QP already shows how unimpactful they are …
This playerbase deserves it. It’s payback for all the toxicity and rooting for content restrictions and leaving all the matches that aren’t Escort or Hybrid.
I hope it gets worse until enforced fast queues mix Bronze players with Top 500 players (whether it’s in QP or Competitive).
This might sound toxic from my part but I don’t care about being nice towards people who have been ignoring and mocking players that ara against content restrictions since 2019.
Yet, I was told by a few forum posters (with nothing but conceit from their part) that Stadium would be a guaranteed success, that would gather many new players and be as huge as a new and long-waited game being released.
I was being generous when I stated the hype would fade by Christmas. It seems like the honeymoon phase is already over.
They’re the ones that indirectly enforced Role Queue in 2019, enforced 5v5, removed 2CP, added hero bans in a counterpicking hero based game and ultimately enforced Map bans in every existing lobby (QP, 6v6 and even Mystery Heroes).
5v5 and 6v6 split the playerbase long ago but Hero bans this season made it even worse, hence why there are even less active players.
I believe many players just like me simply stopped queuing for QP altogether and only play Arcade to complete their BP.
There’s like 30 days left before the end of the season and I didn’t even finish my Premium BP I bought (with 20 bonus levels)… This speaks volumes.
And to make matters worse, I’m not even sure I’m gonna buy Season’s 18 Premium BP for the first time since 2022. They’re losing loyal fans over refusing to create a QP lobby without map bans, that’s for sure.
The community reaps what they sow. All the negativity and rejoicing over ruining the game comes with a cost and it’s time they paid the bill. Their experience in Overwatch will eventually be ruined as well soon.
I don’t see any difference in quality from day 1 to now. It’s always been bad matchmaking. Mainly because groups are hidden. And since they can’t, or won’t balanced based on groups. bad MM happens.
