A lot of characters have been homogenized for awhile now. The balance changes have also made the characters selected and gameplay loop repetitive. Back then people would select whoever they liked but when it kicks in that they want to win, they’ll usually switch at the expense of the character they’d rather play (counterpicking). I think the biggest problem is character designs being cheese and the 5v5 formula forcing a more brain dead dynamic between your own team and the other team.
Mystery Heroes can sometimes be fun as well as open mode.
In short doses it’s a fun game. But the longer you play the faster the unaddressed flaws of 5v5, progression, matchmaker, and overall gameplay loop can be seen.

Reading the forums you would think it’s not fun.
Overwatch is fun if you are wanting to improve.
Overwatch is fun when you are only considering about what YOU are bringing to your group.
Overwatch is fun when you analyze YOUR statistics and not your teammates.
Overwatch is fun when you put less focus on blaming others and more focus on discussing what you did.
Sure matchmaking is a cause of grief. But we’ve all known this for a very long time. And it even so much empowers me to realize even more that I can’t change other players and their playstyles. I can only focus on me. I am the only constant in my games.
So yeah. I love Overwatch and I have fun.
And most importantly:
When I stop having fun, I get off.
If u never played ow1, yes this version is probably fun

I love OW. It’s the best multiplayer game for me. I dont like battle royales and I dont like games like COD,CSGO, or Valorant because you die so fast. Honestly if you need to just take a couple months off from the game. If you really don’t enjoy it after you come back, I would recommend looking for a new multiplayer game.

The Game can absolutely be fun but it needs a lot of stuff to go right.

It’s fun for a lot of people, thats why even 8 years after the OW IP launched there are still a ton of people playing it. Most games die long before that.
I love the game but i’m considering shelving it for awhile. This season seems super bad balance-wise. It’s honestly one of the worst balance patches ive played in this game in a long long time.

It can be fun. Like, you’ll get lucky and have a couple rounds where there are no cheats and you are randomly put in a match that works. But a lot of the time you’re not noticing that it’s miserable for the other side because this time it’s them getting stomped and not you.
But then every other match is a cheater, a smurf or a mismatch and you ask yourself, why do I play? Plus it’s not half as good as OW1 was originally with genuine plays, rather than simply focusing down the weakest link in the other team either a supp or tank like it is now.
It’s really not fun. And a lot of the “hate” against the game comes from the sheer ignorance of the people who spout the marketing hype and nonsense from Blizzard. As though they’ve done something marvellous. When they have no clue at all.

Depends on the hero you enjoy. If it’s Sombra, the community is at your Mercy.
it is fun, when i get a fair match, even though interacting with tanks is awful.
let me explain 
A fair match to me is when a match has everyone relevant at least a bit in each match.
Where everyone performs roughly the same (not not exactly people fluctuate) but not like when 1-2 are so dominant its oppressive, or we get king/queen potato.
just reasonably even, nothing perfect, but i only get this like 1:7-10 games…
i dont care about rank, i just wanna derp about, with other derps. I am not a big enough sucker to be super competitive in this environment…
tanks feel like trash to interact with as any role… super tank sucks and i need to shout it out…
i would do a QP hacked, where tanks are basically just dps (stat/ability wise), but with defensive’s that let them survive a bit better and DPS are just DPS with offensive’s.
a net nerf to everything to compensate, hit/hurt box tightening so that everything has to be earned, and ranks have to be more distinct.

No, but Overwatch used to be fun. And I have hope that game will return someday.
I still find the game fun and enjoy it.
But ever since S9, there has been a serious lack of individual agency on my favorite heroes, as they got absolutely dumpstered. Before then, I always had a fun session, now it’s kind of hit or miss.
It is, until it isn’t. It is until you find the unfun factor of the game for you. For me, it’s when im getting rolled on any hero I play by Winstons and Dvas because my team won’t help. 
Absolutely unfun game most of the time, it’s designed to increase stompiness of every stomp.
I only reinstalled to try new heroes added in last two years.
