Is One Better Than The other?

will you argue that zen volley is not oneshot , its more or less better than scatter.

the main difference is zen makes that vibrating noise, while hanzo you have to see him looking down to know.

probably if it had effects like storm it would have been more noticeable.

OP is either trolling or more than a little dense. So are some other people in this thread.

hanzo shot me from next map while i was scoped and standing still tree thrower rng spammer hanzo main bro, hehhe heheheh , remove hanzoe, remove one shot …
crowd is here.

Hanzo should never be viable, neither should Widow.

I will argue that 240 damage is less than 450, yes, lol.

I will even go one further and also say that zens volley is a lot more difficult to land than scatter shot! lol

Volley and scatter aren’t super comparable. One of these you can see being charged slowly and cannot be held forever. The other can be held and there is no indicator when it will be fired. It also does significantly more damage and is easier to land.

ya probably yes , zen volley while will always hit something doesnt hit peaks often as scatter.

its just more available and constant high dmg though.

was there any stats on scatter kills like we have for storm back in the day,.

There may have been, I’m not so sure. I didn’t play Hanzo nearly as much back then as I do now. I can try to see if I can find info on it besides the old wiki entry on scatter.

i was mostly thinking interms of constant burst dmg.

ya totally the biggest issue with scatter was it was hardly noticeable unless you were looking at hanzo aiming your feet.

storm has better visibilty and timing and sound effects if scatter had that and maybe nerfed the dmg a bit it could have still been there maybe,

I don’t know, but I can tell you from personal experience, I missed almost every arrow except for scatter arrows. (jk, but only kind of kidding, lol)

“looking at hanzo aiming your feet” is a bit out there. That’s like telling people to watch out for the Widow aiming at their head.

easier but not a better design choice, his old skill was cooler now its just ‘‘shoot faster’’

It was removed because you could aim at the feet of ppl and make them eat all the shots and kill them.

its a tell for cqc heroes, same way you use draw sound of his arrow as tracer to wait for his charge arrow to go away etc.

obviously i did agree it was not a easy tell nor a good one, which is why the storm arrow of effects sound and having a time widow for it is better like zen volley.

The difference is that scatter shoot could one-shoot some tanks like orisa.

Orisa - One shot by Hanzo Scatter

Not gonna lie, I did not miss being hard-countered by two cooldown abilities on the same Damage hero, i.e. the limited wallhacks combined with scatter shot. It was very tedious when playing flanker in a map where the flank route are all small corridors. At least Cassidy has to guess when you’ll come out if he doesn’t get wallhacks from his team’s Hanzo or Widow, and his footsteps are very distinct.

I don’t really have this view of Widow’s ult (outside of No Limits) since she had and still has to earn her map-sized wallhacks, and you can avoid her focus if you play with your brain. Hanzo’s wallhack on its own is perfectly fine, just not paired with the scatter shot on the same character.

ok i tried the wayback machine there is just one snap shot in 2017 jun

at that point it was doing 3.5 kills per 10 min i guess

once storm was introduced it did same kills but after a few months it climbed to 7 kills and now is 5-6.

that said obviously scatters dmg was a result of its era were it had people dealing with quad tanks etc.

Im just curios if it could have just taken a nerf and worked or some more tinkering.

its really cool effect.

Though atleast storm has some geometry now.

“scattuh”

It’s one of those abilities where I understand why it was removed, but feel it was fairly iconic to the hero. R.I.P.

Also excellent find on the stats.
