They donât actually. They are legally prevented from intentionally spreading disinformation. They would open themselves up to libel and slander lawsuits if they were doing that all the time.
It happens sometimes. Nothing is perfect. But they arenât intentionally spreading much disinformation.
Itâs also hypocritical to be opposed to it unless the group doing it is one you like.
That crap is wrong, whether itâs some journalist at a MSM outlet or some group of people on 4 chan. It is reprehensible and should be condemned.
It wasnât nothing at all. He used it to signal himself as both a white supremacist and a memeâer and heâs killed people. This kind of stuff is used as way to get comfortable with these ideas and heâs a good example of a white guy who found this kind of stuff very powerful. And I guarantee you there is someone out there right now inspired by him.
You can ignore hate group recruitment tactics if you so desire. But then if ypu arenât going to bother researching it all, ypu should refrain from telling people who do that it doesnât mean anything.
And people like him are what lead to Blizzardâs decision to ban it in a clumsy way that isnât satisfying to probably most people no matter where they fall on the issue.
We just had 2 whole years of much of the mainstream media lying to the American public about that whole âTrump Russian collusionâ thing.
They knew it was a lie - one of CNNâs top guys was outright caught on tape saying it was a nothing burger - and yet they kept promoting this stupid conspiracy theory.
And they did it entirely for the boost it gave to their ratings - they made a fortune telling people there was a fire in a crowded theatre.
This was not a mistake - it was a cynical move aimed at making money, at the expense of the mental well being of millions of americans.
It was. One lunatic with a gun out of billions does absolutely nothing to define our culture or use of memes. To say otherwise is ridiculous, and how blizzard handled this is ridiculous.
They didnât. They said he was being investigated for possible collusion and reported on various updates on the case. That was the truth. He was investigated. Being found innocent doesnât retroactively turn all reports about the investigation into lies.
Did not see that. Regardless that was his opinion. Until the investigation was completed, that was all anyone had on it. An opinion. Nobody knew for sure.
Once the results of the investigation were given, they reported those too. It didnât matter that it made them look bad. It was the news.
It isnât just one. White Supremacy is factually on the rise, as is hate crimes. This is one of their recruitment tactics. It wouldnât have had any meaning whatsoever if it was just the one guy doing something random. He would not have done it if didnât evoke any meaning to anyone else.
Yeah no. Thereâs barely any. Meaningless. Go and check statistics if you want to know who you should be more worried about in 2019, I donât want a ban for âraycisism.â
Except, again, they knew that it was nothing.
Hell, I knew it was nothing, and Iâm not even a journalist.
How many people do you figure heard on CNN or MSNBC that the thing that served as the basis for this entire investigation was a fake intel document funded by Trumpâs political rivals ?
Youâd THINK that would be kind of an important detail to let people know about.
Except they REALLY sold the idea that thereâs real substence there - where any competent journalist would have taken one look at the actual circumstances and pointed out how stupid the whole thing was.
These people are NOT amaturs - they get paid more money then you or i would ever likely make - and they are about as reliable as Alex Jones.
Iâm happy so many people find this ridiculous, and concerned thereâs some people who vaguely find it justified. But I guess every age has its nutters, we should be glad weâre not the reasonable people who were alive when religious nutters were in charge in medieval times. Damn that must have sucked.
They didnât know it was nothing. You assumed it was nothing. You didnât know either until all the facts were in. It is literally the point of investigations. A US sitting president was being investigated by the government for possible collusion with a foreign state. Thatâs news. They had a responsibility to report that, no matter the outcome.
Its already gotten to this point. I donât even tell a woman she looks nice at work anymore cause frankly I donât want to get fired due to sexual harassment. It just isnât worth it.
As for political correctness well it is what it is. We are starting to get so ridiculously oversensitive about everything. I think people literally are just looking for racism in everything.
The german Wikipedia site has an article about the 4chan operation, canât find it on the english page.
Operation O-KayKayKay
In 2017, 4chan spread the rumor that this finger gesture was a hallmark of White Supremacists. The three outstretched fingers should stand for the letter W, the circle between the thumb and forefinger together with the palm of your hand represents the letter P. WP is an abbreviation for âWhite Powerâ. The distribution of this rumor was called Operation O-KayKayKay. KayKayKay is an abbreviation for the Ku Klux Klan which supports White Supremacy. [13] Even the Swedish Defense Research Institute believed this rumor and published a list of hate symbols, including this finger mark. [14]
Everyone is welcome on 4/8chan my doggo(Read:Nobody is welcome on 4chan/8chan, go away.). Everybody makes fun of everybody, and a bunch of a-political jerkoâs on purpose. Itâs a big fun romp.
