👌 is NOT symbol of white power

We could sit here all day and try to imagine which specific individual came up with the exact idea. The end of the day, however, is that objectively, white supremacists use memes to gather people under their influence. It does not matter one bit whether it was an actual white supremacist, a troll, or whatever else that initially sparked this specific meme, what’s more important is the knowledge that fascists DO make use of this tactic, and that it’s worthwhile to acknowledge that so that we can better curb their advances.

The scary truth is that memes, like all forms of art, have the capability to move people, and evil people are trying to do evil things with it. Whether fascists “adopted” it or not is irrelevant, what’s important is that they’re actually going through with it, and we should be spreading awareness of this subject so that people can more critically digest what’s being fed to them. People should know whether or not memes are trying to warm them up to certain political beliefs, especially when those memes are wrapped up in so many layers of “irony” that we usually just dismiss all memes as being aimless, spontaneous creations with literally nothing behind them – that just isn’t true and people need to wake up to this.
