But…Junkrat is ahead of S76 in every tier but Plat, and ahead of all of these heroes below that.
I was talking pre-nerf, double mine, no falloff damage.
That has changed since then, and Soldier fell off because he wasn’t providing much that other heroes can.
Not to mention IIRC, that was when dive become prominent again, and briggite was introduced soon after.
Edit: In addition, almost most hitscan heroes like bastion/soldier/mcree are receiving changes in the PTR.
Meanwhile, Junkrat was saddled with the grenade nerf for some reason when he still wasn’t that much of a problem.
Junkrat is actually someone I would use as an example for what their balancing goals should be.
A good pick rate based on maps and compositions.
Junkrat excels in certain map and areas. With his damage and instant combo thats really all he cam ask for.
I just feel that the grenade nerfs is one of the most unnecessary thing, I rather take more ult nerfs than the primary changes.
So consistency and Junkrat are terms that dont belong together. He is the king of chaos and unpredictability. That is the entire point of Junkrat.
I dont know when you started playing him, but he was given 2 mines with no falloff, and it lasted no more than a couple of months. When the chips fell, he was doing way too much, so they reined it back in. That isn’t a “painful nerf”, it is a corrected upgrade.
Jesus, this is a character that used to die at his own hand if he used his weapon at close range. His position now is so far ahead of where he came from, and he is still a choke master but the close range game has been opened up to him.
Acting as though a basic and pretty small couple of changes is a “major nerf”, is ignoring the entire context.
I played Junkrat from the start, and I played him during season 1, where he kills himself, his ult had a start up time of 2-3 seconds, and detonating the tire too close would kill you too. Not to mention the tanks, who only needed to land on you and you’re screwed as you can’t take the risk to fire back (And if its D.va, you’re extra screwed since she can DM your only escape route.) while they can take all the time in the world to force you back.
Consider me really skeptical when Hanzo was supposed to also have some inconsistencies but was given a primary buff so he could be more consistent. So why does he gets that but Junkrat, after the iteration of the double mine falloff damage that already brought him down to controlleble levels, suddenly given ANOTHER primary gun nerf on top of that.
I’m kind of miffed on the whole thing considering those basic and small changes as you say, was Junkrat bread and butter. That’s like saying, oh, the primary changes to Mei to have no falloff damage is a small buff when she can headshot someone across the map and do a whopping 160 damage (Or was it 150?).
That, is what I’m complaining about and you’re also ignoring the entire context if that’s the case.
Crizby, dont bother - its propably te same people who cried how easy is for junkrat to jump in to crowd, suicide and kill others post-mortem with total-mayhem

i loved junkrat then, i love him now - hes fun to play
Right now the heroes they are looking into right now that ACTUALLY need help, are Sombra and Reinhardt. Not sure about anyone else.
Over 300 hours on Junkrat
He’s fine right where he is. He’s powerful and easy to use, but can be worked to perform on the level on Tracer/Genji if you know how to do it.
you know… people dont care if you have 300h on JR and know how to play… its ‘always luck’, therefore ‘nelf zunklat’ is the only thing that comes to their mind… not that you have skill or something
Such is the price for using intermediate geometry
“great mobility” - you mean mine? the thing that can be destroyed or deflected or eaten by DM…
Right. So using the mine, you throw yourself in an arc. A slow predictable arc that snipers love.
His ult charges fast. Yes it does. I would love to see them up the ult charge needed by about 300-400 points. put it around Pharah’s level. and undo the terrible projectile size nerf.
The tire itself however, does not “do laps” around the enemy team. It is slow (almost as slow as it was at release) and has only 100 hp. I suggest if you dont think you can run from it, try shooting it. It dies extremely fast.
His trap OP? You know it is visible before it goes off right?
it sticks out of the ground and is destructible. As a junkrat player, i see them half a mile away and fire at them. It is a 2 second single hero root. hardly “better than zarya’s black hole” as you have to be blind to walk into it and it doesnt drag you to it.
Lol, remember when junkrat was OPAF, and all the junkrat mains on here defended him and said people need to get good?
Funny thing, because if you can’t aim with him then you need to get good.
When would that have been?
He never had the 100% pick rate like Mercy or Hanzo
He never even hit #1 DPS.
His counters still worked on him as much as they do today.
this is coming from a junkrat main who still to this day has a 33% accuracy in comp.
i didnt defend him
You mean when Junkrat was top 5 dps, still outclassed by other classes, and Pharah still beating down on him alongside D.va? That Junkrat? I still standby my statement that the Junkrat at that time was balanced and people needed to get good.
OWL showed that perfectly with teams swapping off Junkrat and others going dive + Pharah/soldier to counter junkrat, even Jake had mixed results and dominated only certain maps or points.
The OWL proved some things correct (Mercy needed a retweak.) but it also busted down certain myths like Junkrat or even Brig (Despite how people say she’ll kill dive, Brig can still be countered and they build around a dive to kill her instead.).
He’s totally fine, still has a massive damage output but is not totally viable, because Zarya counters him pretty well. I don’t want a S6/7 again, when him was very OP
Was screaming? Some still are.
Also OP, Please never bring up “rework” for Junkrat. We all see how well that went for Mercy and Symmetra.
Sym is fine.
Mercy is WAY too tricky to balance correctly. She’s gonna be OP anyway with rez. There’s no going around that.
