I have been wanting to play her in comp, because she most reliable helps me accomplish the jobs that I want to accomplish, but I have been hesitant because almost every match that I play on quick-play, people have been very toxic about my choosing her. I’m interested in seeing what her kit is like, and whether it could be used in a Dva type of playing style, but am afraid that this would lead to a lot of griefing and more toxicity than I am usually accustomed to. Any thoughts on this?

What? No. Use the tools you are given in-game as they are meant to be used.
Its like the people in fighting games that complain about throws and zoning with projectiles. Its all scrub talk which is focused on getting other people to follow imaginary nonexistent rules for the sake of “muh skill!”.

unfair in the sense that I would be taking advantage of a hero that a lot of the community sees as unbalanced and that a lot of the community has gripes with.
It isn’t a lot of the community. It’s a vocal minority that refuse to learn how to deal with her or counterpick her. Idiots crying “OP” should be ignored. Play her if you want to.

She’s annoying, and people get salty. That’s pretty much all there is to it. It’s not like she’s a free insta-win that people pretend she is.

Doesn’t mean she actually is.

You won’t feel so unbalanced when the enemy team has Hanzo and Widowmaker to make your life hell.
Her counters are currently meta so you are more likely to get yelled at to switch if one of your teammates is a meta slave.
But play who you want to play. Otherwise why did you buy this game if you can’t play who you want to play?

Using Brigitte is not unfair. She is a hero in the game and you are allowed to use whatever is in this game to win.
Unfair? No. Brigitte isn’t overpowered at all. Zenyatta and Mercy are far more prevalent. And even if Brigitte was overpowered, there’s really nothing stopping the enemy team from picking her too. Because of that, there’s no such thing as an unfair character choice in this game.
If you want to play Brigitte, play her. No one is going to stop you from playing her but yourself. This is what happens when I want to play Tracer. The only way for me to play her is if I have to do it myself.
Brigitte is easy to get values but you still have to be very disciplined based on your job when playing her. You want to be very reactive as Brigitte for certain situation such as stopping ults, using her health pack ability to save someone from brink of death, and using your shield bash at the right moment to save one of your teammates.

You mean protecting supports/dps? Like an offtank? Because that’s already her normal playstyle.
Dude if you want to play Brigitte then just do it. If you’re scared of people getting mad then just forget all about that crap.
When I play her, I love when people get mad, especially dps mains lol.
