Is it that Mercy

She doesn’t heal enough.

Her recent nerf was a mistake.

If you’re implying DPS do too much damage you’re so wrong.

The most meta comp uses 0 or minimal DPS heroes.

More so the former, but even beyond that, it’s how she heals. Consider Ana, who heals less than Mercy but doesn’t have any problem as a main healer, or Moira, who doesn’t heal that much more than Mercy. It’s because her healing is much more bursty, whereas Mercy’s is HoT. I’ll let you guess which one is more effective.

I personally believe that Mercy isn’t particularly strong right now not because of her lack of healing but because A. The meta, and B. Her weird lack of kit cohesion. The meta right now really doesn’t fit her kit. GOATs comp wants to play extremely fast and requires lot of healing, which Mercy just despises. Dive right now moves way too fast for her to get much healing off or let rez get much value (if everyone is dead in 10 seconds, Mercy just gets outpaced). Her kit is also really weird, with damage boost, low healing, and high mobility seeming to signal a dive-centered playstyle that clashes with her slow rez that needs to be protected. It means she only is better than the other healers when either her damage boost or her rez alone gets more value than another healer’s multiple points of value (example: Zen with Discord and DPS output, or Ana with burst heals and anti-nade).

Disagree … Moira’s only utility IS healing. Giving Mercy more healing is just going to take away from Moira’s only crutch.

I wouldn’t say either is really true.
It’s more that Mercy can’t supply the healing necessary to minimize/negate enough of the damage being dealt to prevent/slow death at the time it’s needed.
The extra 10hps she had helped create a bit more of a buffer, allowing the lack of hps change to function a bit better vs ever increasing burst damage but she was never particularly good vs burst anyway.

Well, what would you think about Moira if Dva/Genji couldn’t eat healing orbs, and Moira’s primary fire reduced enemy heals received by 15%.

And even toss in, Moira can heal through shields.

Well obviously, there are only three primary healers. So yeah, remove two of them, of course you will have a monopoly in the primary healer slot.

I don’t even know at this point. There’s so much burst damage these days to the point where the line is blurred.

I like Moira the way she is now. The only thing she could use is minor QoL and a revert to the healing through barriers nerf.

Changing her to give her utility would just be wrong because it’ll take away from how she was originally designed to be. She is a pure healer through and through.

I can assure you Mercy isn’t lacking in the healing department. When she had 50 HPS, yes, but she’s back to where she was.

Her issues are her non-engaging playstyle and … well you know the rest. The threads are there.

Well, I think the complaint from most Mercy players is a lack of:

  1. Saving teammates below 75hp
  2. Interactivity and Decision making
  3. “Big Hero Moment” feeling
  4. Healing tanks is kinda boring

Granted some of these can be explained by wanting a character to not have weaknesses. Which is kinda the opposite of balance.

But I think they could achieve these goals in more indirect ways.
